This device worked well for me. I didn't think it did at first, as the instructions are pretty non-existent. However, I watched a YouTube video going over how to user it and BAM. They mentioned that you:
1) MUST plug in this device with the car off (and I think that means keys out, no aux power, in this case).
2) MUST *start* the car after this device is plugged in and the device is ready.
That second part is what got me. I plugged this in first, saw the power light was on, was able to pair with the device, and thought that was it. Unable to sync the OBD2 data. That was because I hadn't started the car after that point. Once I did, it was able to pull the data that I had, including the three reasons behind my check engine light being on.

I bought this specifically to use with the Android app Torque Pro. I plugged it into the OBD 2 port of my car and had no problems pairing it with my phone (running Lollipop) over bluetooth. Next I fired up the Torque app and created a profile for my car. The RioRand RD9 worked absolutely fine with both the phone and the app. I did a bit of research before I bought this - The Torque app warns of cheap OBD2 bluetooth knockoffs not working properly with the app, other purchasers of the RioRand RD9 confirmed that it was working okay and I also have had no issues. Online forums don't recommend leaving the adapter plugged into your OBD2 port permanently because of battery drain but I have had no issues leaving it in during stop n go city driving removing it at night. The unit seems nicely made with the usual connection and power lights. It was shipped in the correct time frame by the seller. Overall I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a bluetooth OBD2 adapter.

At first, I tried using this device with the free version of TORQUE ("Torque Lite") that I downloaded from the Google Play store. And even though the Bluetooth pairing worked well, the app on my phone was unable to communicate with the device. I was starting to get frustrated and disappointed when I noticed there was a version of the TORQUE app included on the CD provided by RioRand. I installed that one on my phone and the app worked at the first try. No issues so far, and I have been able to diagnose and clear my very first "Check Engine" warning on my Mini Cooper.
On top of diagnosing "check engine" errors, it impresses me the amount of information I can get with this scanner in combination with the Torque app: Speed, acceleration, gas consumption, RPMs, vacuum readings, temperature, G force,.. the list goes on.

First of all, Amazing product for the price.

This tool is a fraction of the cost of a regular wired scan tool and does almost everything they do. I have no problem reading and deleting fault codes, and checking live vehicle data while driving with the torque app is great too.

Two majors things this tool and the torque app doesn't do is:

One, check for eTest Readiness. I will not tell you if your systems are ready or not that are required for the emissions testing(eTest). Perhaps RioRand can make a software update to add this feature.

Two, the app CD that this device cam with is a mini CD and my laptop has an autoloader(MacBook), and does not have the CD tray that comes out to insert a Disk, thus making the CD useless for those that are on the same boat as me.

I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a budget Scan Tool. Hope this helped, Cheers.

Worked as advertised when I intially got it, but it has since stopped working. It cannot maintain a Bluetooth connection. I never used it much either, but when I went to use it because I needed it, no such luck. I've tried different apps and different vehicles, but the result is always the same.

I can confirm that this is working in my 2005 Subaru Forester. Already read and cleared a fault code that was popping up.

Using the app Torque on an android phone and it paired and read data on two different devices so far.

The RioRand RD9 scanner is EXCELLENT!!

If you came here for an adapter that'll work with Torque, you've found it.

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much out of this product...

I am a service advisor at a Porsche, Audi, Land Rover dealership so I know how expensive scan tools can be. I am also an ASE certified Master Mechanic, so I understand the importance of a good, quality scan tool.

The functions of this particular scan tool are limited, of course. But for the money, I would venture to say that this is the best one on the market. Don't pay attention to reviews that are poor because of unrealistic expectations.

This product is exactly what Amazon says it is: A scan tool for check engine lights and other diagnostics. You won't be able to adjust turbo boost or change shift points, but pulling codes and displaying information is something it does very well.

Also, it comes with a mini disk for installation on a computer, but it's also compatible with an Android app called Torque.

Excellent product, excellent price! Dealer charges $100 for diagnostic,Why not to DIY and save money?!
