Product Description

2012 was the end of the world. All society and civilizations fell, leaving the survivors to fend for themselves. Few made it.

                                                               In Book One
Samantha:
After being taken from her Seattle office at gunpoint during the apocalypse, Samantha's chopper crashes and she is taken hostage by the Cruz brothers. Abused and hurting, to get her life back, she has to take theirs and learns a harsh lesson in survival.

Kenn/Cadet
Kenn and the cadet were missed in the evacuations and instead of heading home for the boy's pregnant mom, the Marine heads them for NORAD, sure the timid little woman he'd controlled for so long, couldn't have survived the end of the world. These two are picked up by Safe Haven Mobile Refugee Camp and the Marine quickly begins building himself a place among these strong survivors.

Angela/Brady
Angela lost her baby in the war and that pain forced her to face the awful truth. Without using her gifts, those forbidden powers that have kept her chained to Kenn for more than ten years, she will never see her teenage son again. Forced to wait for her body to heal before she can start her quest, Angie calls out to her son's real father, Brady. They are reunited in the post apocalyptic remains of Indiana and it's clear that the sparks are still there.

Adrian
Adrian has a secret that no one knows and he struggles to keep it hidden even as he risks everything to gather his flock. He is a Leader, a Patriot, and there's nothing he won't do in his quest to keep some of his Country alive. Even kill.

Cesar/Rick
Rick is a traitor. He belongs to the leader of a group of Mexican Guerilla's that are intent on destroying what's left of the post apocalyptic United States. Cesar leads these ruthless killers, sending Rick into camps of refugees as his spy, before murdering the men and taking the women hostage. Cesar hates America and heads up Interstate 25 like an end of the world plague. He thinks he is unstoppable but already, there's a nagging worry that the forces of fate have something planned. For now, though, his reign of terror goes unopposed.

Mother Nature
Angry at the callous indifference of humans, Mother Nature has called her creatures together for the apocalypse. Animal attacks and ambushes become common place and add yet another adventure these brave souls must face in their quest for survival.
                                                                In Book Two

More of the same adventure, romance, and danger that made book one so addictive. Are you ready to return to Safe Haven? Adrian and the others are already there, waiting to tell you what happened next. Won't you join us?

This series is so in depth. So many layers. Took a bit to catch up to it but worth doing it

HASH(0xa6516fb4) out of 5 stars Surviving Together April 24 2011
By Jacqueline Kitchen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In book 2 we get to learn a little bit more about the main characters. We get a glimpse of what life might possibly become should we fall prey to a similar situation. The roads are cluttered with abandoned cars and corpses. The cities and towns have become giant mortuaries. A band of Mexican outlaws on a mission to deliver the final blow to any American survivors.

It would seem that Mother Nature has decided to punish the survivors with severe storms of sand, wind and water. The animals have banned together against mankind and they are pissed! The mutations of various insects, spiders and other wildlife are visible and they are deadlier than ever.

I like how the personalities of each character unfolds. The women have strength. They are not a bunch of females in distress that needs 'a strong man' to look after them. The men are patriotic and protectors. Their loyalty to one man, unbeknownst to them, is a direct result of some type of magic that compels them to not only please him, but to want to give their life for him as well.

You feel yourself caring about what happens to all of the characters. Whether it is for them to survive or to get a just and fitting punishment. It sneaks up on you before you realize it has captured your attention.

Overall, if you like Post Apocalyptic fiction, then this series (book) should be added to your collection. It is a must-have to round out all of the different views and outcomes of the end of the world.

A very good story that keeps you hooked and leaves you wanting more. The author weaves a wonderful and believable story that is at once engrossing and entertaining.

HASH(0xa64fbe70) out of 5 stars I love this series! June 16 2011

This is the 2nd book in the Life After War series. "On the Road" continues the story of the survivors as they are continuing on their journey. The large group known as Safe Haven, is led by Adrian who even though he has his own secrets and agenda, really does put the people in his care first. He runs Safe Haven with military precision. As the Safe Haven group travels they take in any survivor's they run across or that need rescued. Then you have Angela and Brady who are trying to get to their son who is with the Safe Haven group. The survivor's face many challenges as they continue on their journey, radiation contamination, slavers, extreme weather and mutated insects just to name a few. "On the Road" is definitely a "must read" if you enjoy post-apocalyptic action packed stories!

HASH(0xa6411c00) out of 5 stars Very Good Apocalypse / Post-Apocalypse Series... Must Read! Feb. 29 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

(This review is posted with each of the three books in the series)

If you like post-apocalyptic fiction, then this series is for you. Actually, even if you're not sure of the genre, you should read this series by Ms. White. She presents a very realistic apocalyptic adventure with excellent character development and a story theme that will draw you in from the start, and leave you wanting more...

In response to some of the criticisms:

Confusing introduction to characters / apocalypse onset in Book One - I found that I had to re-read the first part - not due to the writing, but due to my failure to absorb the details presented. If you are reading The Survivors for the first time, take the "time" to really read the first part and pay attention! The author (IMHO) did not intend to spoon feed the reader from the first. Rather, I felt she sought to catch your attention and make you think.

Spelling / Grammatical Errors - As an Indie author on a budget, this is to be expected to some extent. If you've written much yourself (and have had to rely upon only yourself for editing), you should know that spelling / grammatical errors will get by you. It's a phenomenon that I've experienced first hand, and one that exists in virtually all writing regardless of the level of editing. As I progressed through this series, I found fewer errors, so it seems that Ms. White is responding...and I for one, will not reduce my 5 star rating on that basis alone.

"Rebiulding America Ideology" - I have ignored the reviewers who have personally attacked Ms. White for the "rebuilding America ideology" she presents for the simple fact that their reviews are not tempered critiques, but rather some kind of emotional diatribe. It is clear to me that Ms. White has well thought out a clear "rebuilding" societal survival structure. It is a post-apocalyptic structure with basic rules and a hierarchy necessitated for the human race to not only survive, but procreate and grow. The structure, the rules put in place by Adrian provide a sense of safety, self worth and hope. It may seem unduly harsh - but at the time presented in this series - it is a necessary evil to ensure survival. The reader should consider also that assuming survival and growth, the harsh structure and strict rules will relax in time. Civilizations throughout history have developed in just the same manner........

I hope to soon be able to read Adrian's Eagles: Book Four on my Kindle, and have just purchased two other books related to this series, Bone Dust & Beginnings (Alexa's Travels #1) and The Mountaineers: A Prelude (Alexa's Travels #2).

Thank you, Ms. White for sharing your talent and passion. Keep up the good

HASH(0xa64a6924) out of 5 stars post-apocalyptic fiction Sept. 18 2011

Angela White is a *very* good writer - I could fairly easily imagine the events as the story unfolded (and I'm definitely visualization-challenged)but, god, does she need a proofreader! Or at the very least, a good nudge toward the spellchecker/grammar checker. I *cringed* every time I hit an error in punctuation/misspelled or misused word and other English bloopers.
But I'd gladly read Book 3, 4, however many more there're going to be, and even re-read the first two. She certainly has a storytelling gift, pulling in any number of different plot threads
and bringing most of them (I don't know what's going to happen with Kendle...) together. Other than the above problems, I'd give her a 5-star endorsement.

HASH(0xa73c7e34) out of 5 stars Decent story made difficult to read Aug. 21 2011

The story is OK, but it is hard to get into with all the spelling errors, grammar errors, punctuation errors, etc. You have to keep track of a conversation because the writing makes it easy to get lost. I would actually give every book in the series 4.5 stars if not for the mentioned problems.
