HASH(0x9ed0863c) out of 5 stars Always Jack. Dec 28 2014
By Teresa Jensen - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I love Jack, Storm or Loran. This book is a wonderful story about how the rockstar finds out about his 4 year old son. Jack has never forgotten the night he spent with Marissa. She was a woman that actually held his heart when so many others had tried. She has had a hard. 4 years raising Tristan on her own, even more difficult since he was born with a physical challenge. After finding his family Jack is determined to keep them. Love this series.

HASH(0x9ed08690) out of 5 stars Rewrite Makes Me Love One of my Favorite Fictional Couples Even More Dec 25 2014
By Backstage Blogs - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Jack and Marissa quickly became my favorite rock star romance couple long ago when I first read the original version of this book. I am a voracious reader and rock star romances are my not-so-guilty pleasure of choice, which is kind of a difficult genre to love. For every good one I find, there are several I read that I don't care for, are poorly written and/or edited, or are simply ridiculous. I have found Lisa Gillis' books to be amongst the best of the best. The characters are so well written that the become so memorable that they are more like long lost friends than book characters, and I love the chance to get to catch up with them with each book and novella she writes in the G and D String series.

That all being said, I generally am not a fan of rewrites, and can't say I was overly excited when I first found out she was rewriting the first two. I stand corrected!! The first person view works so much better here, and she does an equally great job of writing both Jack and Marissa in first person POV. The addition of extra smut is a welcome addition as well. Few authors do this as well as Ms. Gillis, and the additions not only live up to the high bar she had already set in this area but probably set it a couple of notches higher.

Obviously this makes these for adult reading only, and if you are offended by graphic sex scenes you will want to look elsewhere. If you enjoy that kind of thing but often find yourself disappointed in the way they are written, jump right in! One of the most fabulous bonuses with this author is the way she winds an enthralling story around those scenes. That seems to be a very illusive standard for most authors to achieve, but she gets straight A's for this across her entire catalog.

Several reviews that I have read have complained about the way Marissa handles her situation and about the communication issues they both have. To me, these things make the story very real. People do stupid things in relationships, and even the most stable people act out of character when love and passion are involved. Musicians are a different breed - and they tend to express themselves better through their music than their words and actions. When they find fame for their art, any woman can become insecure. Yes, there are things Marissa does that seem stupid from our outside view, but they are very human. Same can be said for Jack, but his lifestyle, and the lifestyle he was raised in are not the same as, say, the son of a teacher and a businessman in the midwest. Every relationship has communication issues at some point. Theirs may seem exaggerated, but so are their lifestyles. Lisa does a very realistic job of portraying all of this. For those who complained about not seeing enough of the rockstar lifestyle, keep reading the series. The next book will give you a big fix of that.

I can't say enough good things about this book or this author. I will continue to devour anything she decides to publish.

HASH(0x9ed08ac8) out of 5 stars A heart warming and sexy series you should read. Jan. 8 2015
By SL Marshall - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I read a lot of rock books but this one is a great series. Jack and Marissa's story isn't a typical rock story as they hook up but she leaves never wanting to see him again. Unfortunately nine months later Rissa's has a reminder of Jack and their hook up. She decides to raise their son until he needs medical help that Rissa can't afford. She contacts Jack and he comes to help her out.

She fights it but they fall in love and try to become a family in his whirl wind rock n roll life style.

A heart warming and sexy series you should read.

HASH(0x9ed08ab0) out of 5 stars ... 'meet-cute' with the central characters all thanks to an adorable lost puppy that belongs to the rockstar Jack Dec 3 2014
By kimberley carr - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This story has a 'meet-cute' with the central characters all thanks to an adorable lost puppy that belongs to the rockstar Jack. The meeting and interactions between Jack and Marissa are so sweet and then time begins to separate them and as usual life seems to get in the way. The reconnection between the characters years later is fraught with secrets and truths that need revealing, but it was handled in a way that made me love the characters even more than i did when they first met each other. Lisa Gillis has wrote a superb romance book that shows how love can be born in the most strangest of connections and can last when couples are separated for a number of years. I really recommend you read this book.

HASH(0x9ed08f6c) out of 5 stars Marissa is trying to get over a bad break up and Jack is too worried hes going ... Nov. 26 2014
By JamieSadler - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
These two cant seem to get out of their own way. Marissa is trying to get over a bad break up and Jack is too worried hes going to get screwed or taken advantage of. They have an instant connection and what was meant to be a one time fling turns into so much more for them both even though for some reason they both do everything they can to ruin it. The innocence and love of a little boy brings two families together. Although I will say Id like to slap the snot out of Marissa's mother.:)
