However, I took a chance with the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 since I heard this lens is much easier to produce when compare to the 24mm. WOW is all I have to say! The picture quality of this lens is unbelievable. I took astrophotos with both the Rokinon and Sigma and they were both just as good as each other. The angle is larger of course for the Rokinon but its overall clarity is on par with the sigma. You need to try this lens!
Problem is, I have an older camera with a pentamirror viewfinder (Canon Rebel XTi), and it was basically impossible to manually focus this lens. The viewfinder is just too small and dark to see what's in focus; the shots I nailed were either at infinity or the minimum focus distance, which I determined with a ruler, not my eye. I have some old Canon FD lenses I use with a Fotodiox adaptor that I am able to focus just fine (50mm and 24mm), so it's not that I don't know what I'm doing. The angle is just too wide to resolve focus through my viewfinder.
I imagine any better viewfinder (bigger, brighter; pentaprism) would probably be fine. This note is a little flag for folks like me with a lesser viewfinder who are tempted by the potential image quality and price point of this lens. I would not be scared off any of the 35mm or 85mm Rokinon/Bower/Samyang lenses, as the image through the viewfinder would probably be a lot less hard to focus, but I can tell you I had a very sad week trying to make the 14mm work.
(And I'd like to add a word of appreciation for Amazon's return policy.)
The build is decent.
The lens cover is falling apart for me, only had this 2 months and the plastic falls apart from just touching it. (I've never dropped it ever). The good news is.. the lens itself is well made. The infinity setting is a bit weird you dial it all the way to where it's indicated but then have to dial back some to focus infinity. Strange.
dont need to explain more just trying on ur Camera
i will show you another worlds.
ultra wide and so nice contrast so clean so bright
just remind this lens is NOT AF its MF but nothing uncomfortable so easy to control
