Product Description

Patrick and Maeve Dolan left the safety of their New York human settlement on a sultry summer night and never returned. Ambushed by the Winter Court guards during their search for information on how to free humanity from faery rule, they are now ensnared in the Winter King Landric’s web, and he has some questions of his own.

The Winter King is curious about the way the Dolans run their city. In a surprising turn of events, he’s determined to learn all about their 16-year-old son, Eirnin. Landric separates the couple, threatens and tortures to the best of his ability, but the Dolans won’t give up the information he’s after.

Murphy, one of King Landric’s guards has been a ward of the Winter Court for as long as he can remember. Trained from childhood to be as quiet and obedient as possible, he’s always been the perfect servant. At least, until Princess Lumi strolled into his life and made him question everything he believes in.

When the princess vanishes without a trace in the middle of the night, Landric is determined Patrick’s people had something to do with it. Without the only connection to kindness and humanity they had, Murphy and Patrick both find themselves falling into very different kinds of insanity.

Will Murphy follow his heart just this once, choose his own side and find Lumi? Will Patrick’s hope dwindle before he can escape and save his family? Or will their unyielding resistance be the death of them all?

HASH(0xa4f11e28) out of 5 stars ★✩★✩★ 5 Evil Faery Stars ★✩★✩★ Sept. 18 2014
By Jenn Green - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
“What is it about Fae men that makes them think they can just take whatever they want?!”

★✩★✩★ 5 Evil Faery Stars ★✩★✩★
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

~My wife is at the mercy of a sadistic Fae King and I haven't seen my children in months. I made a colossal mistake in coming here.~

When Patrick and Maeve Dolan left their family behind at their compound in New York for a secret mission, they had no intention of never returning; of course, they didn't exactly plan on getting captured or kept prisoner at the winter court by the evil Winter Fae King Landric. They are kept apart, beaten, starved and neglected, for months; he is scared for his wife, misses his children and feels like a complete failure for being unable to protect his family when Patrick finds an unlikely ally in the Winter Fae Princess Lumi. She brings him food, and keeps him company, basically saving him from going insane from the isolation. He fears she will get in severe trouble if caught sneaking down to the dungeons, but is desperate for some kind of interaction and grows quite fond of her. She seems to have quite an effect on others as well, including a human guard, Murphy, who starts to question everything he has ever felt, thought, or believed in, the more time he spends with her. And then she disappears, leaving both men lost; will Patrick be able to retain his sanity all alone, will Murphy change his ways or remain as he always was once she's gone? When the Winter King comes to Patrick with a way out, a means to be free with his wife; will he be willing to pay the price – his freedom and the safety of his community in exchange for his son?

“You really think I'd hand my son over to you? Why him, you sonofab***h?”
“Your son needs to die, Patrick. There's no point fighting it. At least this way you get to keep your wife.”

Once again the authors kept me captivated and on the edge of my seat in this strange new world they have created. Deception and danger lurk around every corner, no one is as they seem, and few are safe. Patrick was volatile and unstable, Maeve was a fireball (I see where Fi gets her spark), and we get to spend more time getting to know Lumi – I really do love that girl. Landric was as vicious as they come, and his son is even worse, it's easy to want to distrust all Fae- but that would be a mistake; there are of course always exceptions to every rule, you just have to hope you aren't trusting the wrong people. We are once again left hanging on a knifes edge, tense and biting our nails, just dying to see where these sadistic authors take us next... okay, not really sadistic-just mean ;)
I have fast become addicted to this series and this world and cannot wait for more.

“I will raid your city. I will get your son. And I will cut his throat wide open, right in front of you. How'd you like to watch that?”
“NO!”
“Oh yeah. And while I'm there, maybe I'll just choke the life out of your baby brother, too. And his kids. All four of them. No – the baby I'll keep. He's young enough to train.”

Happy Reading xo Jenn @ BookwormBetties

HASH(0xa47ba8b4) out of 5 stars They take humans hostage and treat them no better than they would an animal. Sept. 5 2014
By Nancy Allen (The Avid Reader) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I received a free copy of the book from the authors for my honest opinion.

Patrick Dolan has spent months in a cell in a dungeon inside the palace of King Landric at the Winter Courts. King Landric has had Patrick beaten by his guards on a couple of occasions; one reason is because Patrick is a man with pride. Patrick has always been in charge of his own destiny and did his duty as a father and husband. But when Patrick and his wife Maeve are taken hostage or prisoner by King Landric; Patrick tries his best to save his wife or at least get the King to let her go and keep him. But the King is smarter than that. He is under the assumption that he can use Patrick and Maeve against one another to get what he wants or so he thinks. Patrick and Maeve both are way smarter than he knows. But the King is a stubborn man and can hold out for a long time if he thinks that he will get what he wants. But the Dolan’s have more at stake than he does because they are fighting for or because of love. The Dolan’s love each other and their children more than their own lives whereas the King cares only for himself and would even kill his own children to get want he wants.

Patrick and Maeve live in a world where the Fae have come in and taken over. The humans are no more than dirt to them. They take humans hostage and treat them no better than they would an animal. But to the King of the Winter Court it doesn't matter if you are human or fae if you disrespect him or do not abide by his laws and do as he says then he will kill you or have you killed.

Patrick makes a friend while he is a cell in the dungeon. The King’s daughter Lumi is always getting into trouble with her father. She doesn't like doing as he tells her so she sneaks out of her room all the time and going on little adventures. On occasion some sees her and is taken to her father and he punishes her. But it doesn't stop her from doing the things that she likes to do. The Princess has a great big heart and knows that a lot of the things that her father does is not right. She also doesn't like the way her father treats his people and she will try to help them when she can. Lumi is probably one the thing that helps Patrick to stay sane while he is locked up in the dungeon. Lumi sneaks out and visits Patrick and brings him food. While she is out on one of her little adventures to visit with Patrick she meets a new friend, a guard, Murphy. Murphy becomes infatuated with the Princess and wants to protect her from her father.

I love the world that the authors have created in Ensnared with the Fae taking over the world. I love that the two main characters Patrick and Maeve are soulmates and would do anything to save the other. I really love Maeve’s attitude and how she stands up to the King because of the way the love of her life is being treated. I mean it is like her heart is being torn from her body. Maeve is one sassy lady. Ensnared is one of those books that will stay with you for a very long time. Ensnared will grab a hold of your heart will have it going in all different directions. One minute it will have you hurting for Patrick and Maeve and them in the next it will have you laughing out loud with the things that Maeve will say. Maeve is one of those characters that you wished you could meet in real life.

HASH(0xa45fe12c) out of 5 stars Loved this prequel Sept. 20 2014
By Roxy Kade - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I was thrilled to get an inside look at the happenings inside the Winter Court, and to see what really happened to Patrick and Maeve Dolan at the time of their disappearance. It's always exciting to read a story that flows alongside another, and to see how the two are interwoven to create one complete tale, seen from all sides.

I enjoyed getting to know Lumi in Uprising and it was great to see firsthand how things were for her in her own home, no matter how heart breaking they were. She's sweet and quirky, with an innocent quality that immediately drew me in. Her concern and generosity for others was endearing.

I liked that this story was told from Patrick and Murphy's POV. Every moment spent inside Patrick's mind was emotionally wrought with tension, fear, a passion for his family and the need to live, and to keep them safe. My heart broke for him when he had to witness Landric's cruelty to Maeve firsthand, and for each and every second he had to spend locked-up, going insane. At least he had a bit of a reprieve with Lumi around.

I'm mostly intrigued to see what Rhiannon's role is. She was not an active character in this book but she had a huge presence with her complete silence, and the ending has me wanting more. I cannot wait for book 2 in this series, to see where the journey leads the characters from both Uprising and Ensnared.

HASH(0xa4595528) out of 5 stars A wonderful Prequel!!! Aug. 18 2014
By Jaime R. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the perfect prequel! I do wish I had it from the start, but it did make everything clearer for Uprising. These two ladies have the ability to write seamlessly. I can't even tell the switch between the two.

Patrick and Maeve left New York on a mission. Unfortunately, they never made it back home. They were abducted by the Winter Court. Patrick in a dungeon and Maeve was in the castle being made to do who knows what. I could feel the heartache and anger that was raging inside of Patrick. His love for his wife and his kids fill every orifice in that cell.

There was only 1 person who saved him from maybe going completely mad. Lumi. She was the last string of hope for Patrick. He felt as if she could be his daughter who he missed very much.

But then Lumi stopped coming. Now who was Patrick supposed to trust? Was trust even an option? With the King dangling Maeve in front of him, but not letting him have her back.

So many feelings are in this book, tears, laughter, surprising friendships. I would definitely recommend this book to fantasy lovers. It is very different from most I've read, in a good way!

HASH(0xa4789d80) out of 5 stars Terrific story! Sept. 18 2014
By Kj Partridge - Published on Amazon.com

This is a terrific 1.5 book, adding some background as well as insight to future storyline in The Dolan Prophecies books. It is a dark tale that involves finding out what happened to Maeve and Patrick after they left their safe little community. They are following a lead given to them by a person they weren’t as sure of as they should have been and at the last moments before capture Maeve tries to back up. Now they are at the mercy of King Landric of the Winter Court, and he is not a nice guy.
I wasn’t sure what to think as I was told this book was dark and written with lots of tears. As I have come to expect; it is another solidly written book that pulls me in as I hunger for more about the characters. Truth is this book has its brutal moments but it is a necessary part of understanding the mind sets of the characters. I recommend this book highly. With that I will leave you with this thought: get it, read it, make your own decision. These ladies are without a doubt rising stars in the author world.
