Product Description

He's called Ruthless.
A sex god with tattoos, piercings, black hair styled to look like he just got laid, and completely off-limits. But I'm like the badass honey badger, and when I'm told I can't have something I want, I go after it that much harder.
It wasn't long before I had him pushing me up against the wall for a mutually agreed upon one-time thing. In an alley. Rough and wild. Best. Sex. Ever.
Now he's my boss and--spoiler alert--we can barely keep from tearing each other's clothes off. But he's determined it will never happen again, and it's not only our work relationship that's stopping him. He has a secret kink--one he's sure I won't want any part of--and he's using it to push me away.
But I'm a honey badger, damn it, and I'm not about to give up on this without a fight. It's time to go after what I want and show this man he's not the only one who can be...ruthless.

Each book in the Playboys in Love series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

I've been a fan of Gina Maxwell's since I read her debut novel, Seducing Cinderella, and she cemented my fandom with Shameless. I absolutely fell in love with the P4H crew and couldn't wait to find out more about each of them and the ladies that love them.

Roman has intrigued me from the start. Successful attorney by day, sexy and in-hot-demand stripper at night, I had to know more. Imagine my delight when I discovered his kink *wink*. I think I was more shocked than Addison was and equally pleased. I loved seeing how willing she was to explore with him and those scenes with Austin were insanely hot! This author sure knows how to give us readers erotic and sensual lovemaking.

What impressed me the most was that Roman and Addison's relationship wasn't all about sex, as much as they tried to keep it casual. The author led us through the evolution of their friendship and feelings for one another and gave amazing glimpses of each character's introspection. I only wish there was more of an ending, but I'm sure I'll see these characters again as the series progresses. I wonder who'll be next... *fingers crossed* that it's Austin!

Oh sweet baby Jesus, this book! I devoured it in a matter of hours. It was my first book by this author, but it definitely won't be my last.
When I first started it, I was a little unsure if I was going to be able to get into it. I sort of felt like the premise was one that was overdone and I was sort of bored with it. Another forbidden office romance. Yawn. And his "I don't sleep with friends of friends" rule. Lame. So not forbidden in my book. Then, like divine intervention, the clouds parted and light shone down from the heavens and all my senses perked up. Ménage you say? YES PLEASE! Please forgive me for doubting, you have my full attention now. It even gets better! Roman is a sexy lawyer by day, with a badass stripper alter ego by night with tattoos and a piercing I had to Google to find out exactly what it was. OH YES. Then Addison, God bless her fiery spirit, put Roman in his place, called him on his seriously weak excuses and things got seriously HAWT. I did find the plot line and Roman's character a little bit predictable, but in the end I didn’t care because it was exactly what I wanted from the story. Even when you see the train wreck about to happen, you still can't look away, right? I thoroughly enjoyed watching Addision teach Roman a thing or two, put him in his place and bring him to his knees. Atta girl!

Ruthless is my first read by Gina L. Maxwell and this book completely blew me away! It’s sexy and completely riveting from start to finish in this spicy off-limits romance.

Told from dual perspective, Roman and Addison have a smoking hot attraction that is like a firework just waiting to explode. Both Roman and Addison are strong and fierce individual characters who know what they want and go after it, even if it means pushing their own boundaries. One thing I adored was the romantic side of the relationship between them and how it subtly progressed, sometimes getting overlooked because of the kinkier and steamier side of things but it was always clear to see. The sub-characters in this book play an important role, one in particular, but were just as likeable.

Ruthless is an outstandingly written off-limits romance with just the right mix of steamy, humour, and emotion. The way the book unravels was strong, not entirely predictable, with some unexpected turns I didn’t see coming but helped make the storyline stronger. One thing I would say is you do have to be more open to kinky and erotic romances (won’t say what exactly to avoid spoilers) because this book gets super HOT! If you like fairly low heat and sweet romances, you may find this book a bit too much. Also, I haven’t read the previous book in this series but followed along no problem and Ruthless can most definitely be read as a standalone with all things tied up between Roman and Addison in this book.

If you are looking for a well written spicy read, do not hesitate to give this book a read, and don’t blame me if it leaves you feeling rather hot under the collar!

I enjoyed this one a lot more than its predecessor for a number of reasons.

One is that the romance is much more developed. These two actually communicate and have a foundation to start their relationship upon which I greatly appreciated. It was one of the "issues" I had with the first book because the romance seemed rushed and insta-love like. But here, not the case!

I also thought the plot pacing of this story was a lot better as well. There was more of a plot--not just sexy times though those were plentiful and will satisfy the erotica reader. It was a much more balanced novel overall.

Fans of the previous novel will enjoy this one and new fans will definitely be happy when they pick this story up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildly sexy yet full of heart! Jan. 25 2017
By mjlovestoread - Published on

I thought Shameless was off the charts sexy but with Ruthless, I'd say Gina Maxwell has clearly let her inner freak flag wave tall and proud! Phew, this one truly set my Kindle on fire and I have to say I am really happy that the author has written these Playboys in Love books with such passion. You can feel the absolute lust dripping from both Addie and Roman's eyes whenever they look at each other. She's a bonafide maneater with a beautiful heart and he is the confirmed bachelor with a penchant for threesomes who may just be afraid of feeling more than pure want.

From the time they have their first dalliance outside a club, I just knew this latest installment in the series would be uber hot. And I wasn't disappointed. With every new way to have Addie be sexually satisfied, Roman unwittingly became a bit more attached to her. Their love affair began wildly and it was only a matter of time before their hearts would calm down and be forever tamed by one another.

I loved Addie and her strength. I adored Roman and the way he could turn from the put together, sharp-dressed attorney into the Ruthless playboy with piercings and mussed hair and Kohl eyeliner (!) on a dime. They are simply a force to be reckoned with when together.

There is great humor throughout and a whole lot of heart. As much as I loved Chance, I do believe Roman has swept me off my feet alongside Addie.

Austin's story is next and I can only imagine how intoxicating his story will be.

5 sexy stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars AN ENJOYABLE, SEXY READ Jan. 30 2017

Attorney Roman Reeves not only commands a courtroom, but he dominates in the bedroom as well. Shrugging off his suit at night, Roman lets his alter ego—aka Ruthless—come out to play. And “play” for this uber-sexy, part-time stripper, means indulging his baser desires, engaging in a very particular type of kink. While Roman has nothing against relationships in theory, his sexual proclivities don’t translate well into long-term commitments. And that’s perfectly fine with Roman, who seeks nothing more than a single encounter with any given woman. But Roman has one steadfast rule—he never messes around with friends of friends. That is, until Addison Paige enters the scene.

Addison Paige is a newbie attorney, striving to make her mark in the male-dominated field of law. She’s a determined, workaholic wild-cat, and the BFF to Jane Wendall. Thanks to Addison’s matchmaking interference, Jane is now helplessly in love with Chance Danvers, who just happens to be best friends with Roman. In fact, Roman and Chance are part owners of a strippers-for-hire business that they started back in college. With just one look at Roman, who’s sporting his stripper persona Ruthless, Addison can’t stop lusting after the tattooed hottie. Knowing that Roman considers her off-limits, just seems to fuel Addison’s desire further, and a game of cat and mouse quickly ensures. Tempted and pushed to their limits, rules are soon forgotten, and they each lose themselves in a moment of unbridled and salacious sex.

Fast forward several weeks, and Roman finds himself still unable to shake Addison from his thoughts. Why that is, he hasn’t a clue. But fantasizing about Addison isn’t helping Roman to concentrate on work. So imagine his shock, when the woman starring in all his latest fantasies, suddenly turns up in his office as a new attorney hire. Shoving his lustful thoughts aside, Roman and Addison agree to act professionally, both determined to create a successful working relationship. But it isn’t long before sparks begin to fly, and Roman is enticing Addison down a sexual path she never imagined traveling.

Roman and Addison’s sexual chemistry not only sizzles, it’s simply off the charts! But more than that, their characters are likeable and endearing. Addison, in particular, is strong, capable and confident. She doesn’t back down from a fight and goes after what she wants. She’s self-assured, which enables her to show her vulnerability, especially when opening herself up to Roman in ways she never dreamed possible. Roman, on the other hand, admires Addison’s spit-fire attitude and revels in her career accomplishments. While he might crave a woman who submits to his desires in the bedroom, he enjoys her challenging personality in all other aspects of their lives.

Although “Ruthless” is the second book in Gina Maxwell’s Playboys in Love series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. And while the first book (“Shameless”) was good, in my opinion, “Ruthless” is definitely better! I look forward to getting my hands on Austin and Liam’s stories sometime in the future!!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOT AND SEXY. HOT and SEXY. SEXY! HOT. Feb. 10 2017
By Ms. Ali Cat - Published on

Describe this book in nine words: Raw and naughty on the razor’s edge of tragedy.

I normally would focus on the hot and sexy of a smutty book like this because HOT AND SEXY! There is nothing bad when those two things hang out together. And it’s enough to turn my head every time. The true value of this novel isn’t steam related in anyway-- but I will reiterate, it’s high on steam.

Gina L. Maxwell interjects a heart wrenching undertone to Ruthless I think many erotic novels get snipped out in editing or overshadowed by inserted sensual scenes. In this second Playboys in Love novel Gina L. Maxwell stunningly retains a level of dark truth about broken relationships that plague the psyche of lovers throughout time. And she does it masterfully.

Roman Reeves is one of those lovers a woman can define her every weakness and broken hope by. He’s a man of influence, a lawyer who likes to win. A man of stature who must always maintain an air of respect. Restricting his demeanor for public consumption has cleaved him in half, burying his real needs and wants deeply into an alternative world. His life has become a sleight of hand and a bald face lie. He has sacrificed a little on both sides to find a modicum of peace that leaves him feeling empty.

He’s twins in one body: Roman--analytical and cold; Ruthless, the persona that can feel and live. A half life that can’t reconcile a personal relationship on a meaningful level for fear his dark side will devour and incinerate anything that gets too close.

A friend of a friend and his new lawyer hiree, Addison won’t turn away from the things that might scare her. She burns for experiences that will allow her to touch danger. She wants to be pushed, starving for something that she can conquer and revel in. Her tragedy is that loving a man like Roman is like touching a star. The difference between what she sees and what she gets is no less than an ocean of tears.

Let me tell you, the heart wrenching moment when Addison realizes she has walked into her own destruction is so crushing that I felt it too.

Fear not, my little pervs!

The under arching emotional plot construction isn’t so heavy that it will weigh you down from the sexy times. Some people won’t even feel it. Ruthless is different than Shameless in that the erotic parts aren’t a steady diet of kinky degradation. Roman’s fetish is uniquely his; the only time he can be himself--be honest. I think he likes what he does to some extent because he needs that part of him to be validated. He likes witnesses to the most vulnerable part of him.

And the guy is hot and sexy. HOT AND SEXY. HOT and SEXY. SEXY! HOT.
Addison is a genuinely likeable ball buster. I feel that her finest moments are when she lets down her shields and allows herself to shatter. It gave me a chance to find the strength in her character.

The storycrafting is phenomenal and the telling stellar. I loved Shameless but this book feels like it is built on a more solid foundation. I really can’t wait to read Austin’s story. I don’t know if she can write another one of these gems but I hope so.

If you like this then definitely pick up the first book Shameless. Also L.A. Fiore’s Beautifully Damaged or Penelope Ward’s Roomhate if you want to branch out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, fun, sexy, intelligent - absolutely loved this book and this author's writing style! Feb. 1 2017

SQUEEEEEEL! I can't even tell you hot smokin' hot this book was! By day, Roman is a professional, take-no-prisoners attorney. By night, he and his bros formed a stripper-for-hire club. I kinda felt like Roman was a real-life Superman...hiding his naughty persona under Armani suits by day. Roman's stage name is "Ruthless", and Addison has her sights set on him. Hello, alley scene?! Desk scene? Guest bedroom scene? OMG, how much did I love Addison? She's an up-and-coming attorney who was all spitfire. When she references she's like a honey badger, I wanted to be besties with her right the eff now! She's uber cocky, confident, intelligent and can totally handle her own. When she and Roman square off... EXPLOSIVE, I tell ya! So here's the thing with all the gorgeous men in the club... they all have, uhm, "proclivities" as their kink. Holy mother of pearl, but Roman gets off on menages of M/F/M. Sure, this isn't everyone's kink, but wow! I can't stress how much I loved this new-to-me author's writing style. It's fun, intelligent and flows really well. It kept me so invested. I simply adored how Roman, who absolutely swore off love and marriage, tumbled like the big giant he was. I loved that Addie never looked back and put herself first. I didn't love the time lapse in Roman's judgement or lack of action (man the eff up already!) but what a wildly hot and romantic book. <3 (Can be read as a standalone.)
5.0 out of 5 stars ... a strong enough word to describe how much I love Ruthless. Gina L Jan. 30 2017

Adore isn’t even a strong enough word to describe how much I love Ruthless. Gina L. Maxwell always out does herself with each new book she releases. Ruthless is the second novel in the Playboys In Love series with the hero being a lawyer and a stripper. He is two opposite sides of the same coin and he wears both hats well. Roman is a take no prisoner lawyer that wears a suit like no other but then he’s Ruthless all his bad boy, tattoos, and piercings are on displayed. Mrs. Maxwell has such a way with her characters that everything about Roman/Ruthless makes a girl melt. Roman meets his match in Addie because she makes him break his hard-fast rule, which is no messing with someone in his circle of friends. Addie is a friend of a friend and that makes her a no go but she is having none of that. Addie wants Roman so when she sets her sights on him she will stop at nothing to get one steamy moment with him. Their one and done moment goes up in smokes when they realize that Addie is the new junior attorney at Roman’s firm. The hardest thing to do is fight the extreme chemistry these two feel. I loved this novel because it was beyond awesome. OMG Roman/Ruthless is beyond panty dropping sexy, while Addie is all around a bad ass chick willing to go toe to toe with him. I can’t wait to read more from this series and it’s definitely a series I’ll be happy to reread. 5 Stars for sure but warning it is a very naughty read and not for everyone! It is definitely not a chocolate, soft music, and rose pedals on the bed type of story.

(I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.)
