Product Description

Director Coline Serreau's warmhearted comedy Stop Walking! (Saint Jacques. . .La Mecque) concerns a trio of estranged siblings who must complete a road trip together in order to collect an inheritance after their mother dies. The high-strung businessman Pierre, mousy teacher Clara, and drunken loser Claude, must travel together in order to each earn the millions their mother left them or else it all goes to charity. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

This is a delightful film about a group of reluctant pilgrims on the Camino Santiago del Compostello. Three are part of a dysfunctional family, two brothers and a sister, who loathe each other but who must go on the pilgrimage in order to gain a huge inheritance. The others are a woman recovering from cancer, two Arab boys (one of whom is in love with a fellow traveller, a young French girl, the other, a dyslectic youth who thinks he is on a journey to Mecca - hence the title. It is a charming story in which reconciliation and renewal are a central theme. So, what brings this about - the religious experience or the journey itself. Perhaps a bit of both. It is quickly apparent that Estevez' production of The Way borrows heavily from this delightful film. Subtitles and a lively script make this an enjoyable viewing experience.

Quelle belle réflexion, ce film nous ramène à l'essentiel et nous bouscule dans nos points de vue, nos habitudes et nos pré-jugés.
À voir au moins deux fois...

A beautiful, honest portrait of the true complexities of adventuring beyond our point of views. This movie has excellent acting, beautiful scenery, and makes you think of what's realy important in life. I will keep this short: Buy it and watch it twice, it's worthed.

I wanted to watch this movie to see the way of Saint Jacques, where I had gone 5 months ago. It was very nice to see the beautiful landscape of country side in France. It is a pitty that they didn't show more villages, like Conques. As a comedy, it was OK. For those who don't know the way, it is good for seeing how it is.

St-Jacques La Mecque "Start Walking" is a refreshing, funny and fairly realistic movie about the pilgrimage "El camino de Compostela". It is very enjoyable.
