I'm conflicted even as I write this.
Being a huge Star Wars fan, and someone who loves DICE's Battlefield franchise in addition to the Battlefronts of 10 years past, my hopes for this game were through the roof.
Playing the beta, and then the full product initially left me with the "holy crap i'm living out my Star Wars fantasy" that EA so proudly advertised. The visuals, audio, and "Star Wars Feel" are phenomenal. This is a game your friends will will ogle over, crowding around your TV as X-Wings fly overhead, AT-AT's lumber by and Darth Vader hacks his way through unlucky rebels.
But that's it. The game is all smoke & mirrors without any substance.
There are a criminally small number of maps, only a few weapons to use that can't be modified, and marginal character customization hidden behind a long level grind.
In creating a game that would cater to people who wouldn't even remotely look at a hardcore-shooter, they've removed any depth that would keep people hooked once the initial Star Wars shock value wears off.
Online matches play out almost the same everytime, and once you've seen the 4 maps available at launch it's just rinse and repeat.
The sad excuse for singleplayer/co-op consists of a barebones horde mode that has been done better in almost any other game featuring that mode. and a 1v1 'Kill Confirmed" knock off that feels like it was included just to tick off a box.

At our Canadian price of $79.99 you are getting a game not even worth half that. To add insult to injury, EA is flaunting a $69.99 Season's Pass to beef up the available maps down the road.
Having just purchased a full budgeted, AAA title that is multiplayer only, this post-game support is atrocious, and continues a dangerous trend in the gaming industry - how much are people willing to spend for less and less?

As an avid fan, this is a disappointment. EA is somehow milking our wallets just because we like the franchise and they knew this well in advance.
Spectacular graphics and great sound are not all in a game even if this one delivers these in spades.

After playing for several days already, as more people have unlocked stuff, this game has just degenerated into grenade and rocket spam. That and the awful spawns are making me not even want to play anymore.

Star Wars Battlefront is the greatest video rental I could ever recommend to a fan of the franchise. As I said it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played in my life, and my overall love for the franchise makes me appreciate that so much more. At the same time, it's also one of the most hollow AAA experiences I've ever played, especially when games like Titanfall, Battlefield, Call of Duty and Evolve offer so much more in terms of longer lasting gameplay and overall incentive to keep playing. The obvious lack of Chewbacca, Yoda and other classic Star Wars content makes it obvious that we'll see them in the game's inevitable expansions, but for $50, that's a hefty price to pay and I won't do it. The main menu constantly reminds you that you haven't purchased the Season Pass, but it also reminds me how shallow Battlefront is compared to modern FPS titles. Once the Jedi Mind Trick of nostalgia and Star Wars love wears off, you'll realize there are plenty of better multiplayer shooters out there that aren't as far, far away.

If it looks like a money grab, smells like a money grab, and has more than one Deluxe Edition ... it likely is a MONEY GRAB and BluRay video seller. Game is barely worth $50-$60 the way it is.

I was first suspicous where there was no Free Demo to play as there was with Destiny.

Pros: Graphics 10/10 Looks amazing
Battlefront 1 and 2 were some of the best SW titles on consoles and PC, players and bots getting it on
Game is very beautiful and most of the sound effects are good. I take issue with some of the voice acting (if you can call it that).
Unlike Elder Scrolls which barely looked better than a free DDO game online

First player and solo player action is a satire and a joke
Lack of squad play in a game called battlefront? Inexcusable
Respawning NEXT to my enemy over and over again is NOT FUN
Lack luster cut scenes lacking emotional epic highs
Terrible balance for new players in big battle
Floating power ups in a beautifully rendered graphically rich world
3 modes : NO SINGLE PLAYER MODE (unlike Destiny), Survival Mode (you and 1 friend),
Lack of vehicles for Rebel forces, and far less fun to pilot
Iconic Players like Boba Fett just get a free pass to fly around and kill players like fish in a barrel
If you are Luke on lower ground than anyone they can't hit you back (except Boba who can fly away)
Flying controls are inferior to those they had in 2005, flying feels SLOW

**Battlefront for the PS2 had 16 LOCATIONS! 16!

Go buy Republic Commando, KotOR, used somewhere to TIE you over Xmas for the legacy consoles. Or you can just play The Old Republic for free online.

Wow, how hard can it be to get Star Wars Battlefront right? JC Almighty.
See the Star Wars Battlefront Angry Review or just mail your money to EA for nothing so they can give you a bill for a Season Pass.
