Works well. Easy to install and reasonably fast (38 megabytes/second). However, an mSATA card is designed to be fastened in place with two screws. The posts for the screws and the screws themselves were missing. This means the only thing holding the card in place is the socket, and vibrations could easily cause the card to fall out. This is why I do not recommend the adapter's use in portable applications. This is also why I am only giving four stars.

Only downside is that there are no screws to lockdown your msata drive only 2 metal tabs that are flimsy and might break with excessive force.

I don't understand the good reviews. I bought two and they're both terrible. Did I get lemons?

I'm so disappointed. I ran various tests with these enclosures and the write speeds are always comically, painfully slow. Average 10MB/s with large contiguous files (don't even bother trying to write many small files). Practically, these things are useless to me. A complete waste of money.

Note: They do, in fact, read at USB 3 speeds. So there may be some use cases where write speeds are not important and this enclosure could be suitable (OS Installer?). That's the only reason I can give them two stars. They are otherwise useless.

If you need to read or manipulate a mSATA SSD this little guy works awesome. Comes with a screw driver and extra screw just in case you lose one. That alone is awesome. You do not have to put the drive in the housing if you are just doing something quick or just want to check a SSD. If you want to use it as an external drive, slide it in the housing, tighten the screws and you are good to go. Plug the cable into a USB port on your Mac or PC and if the drive is good it should pop up in Finder or Explorer. Can't be any more simple than that.
