I’ve been using the Schick Hydro Silk razor for a very long time now. No other razor compares. The 5 blades really do make a world of difference!! The heads feature moisturizing bars that help the blades glide along your skin. Each razor head is good for a few shaves before you need to replace them, so this 6 pack will last awhile!
The Hydro Silk razor comes with the comfortable handle, two replacement head cartridges and a section cup storage device. The overall weight is acceptable. The head has 5 blades and moisturizing strip above and below blade section. The blades lay flat and do not seem to protect from getting nicked.. The moisturizing strip is water activated and not advisable to use razor dry. It does not produce a large amount of gel but should be sufficient. Additional gel or shaving cream can be used if necessary. The head does have some flexibility which does a fair job on curved areas like armpits. Depending on the area being shaved and the coarsest of the hair, the results varies as too whether more than one pass the of razor was required. It did not irritate the skin and lubricant did leave a smooth hydrated feel without flakiness. The head is removed and replaced using a push up button located at connecting base. I like to remove the head for easier cleaning and the first few times had trouble reinserting it with not being sure which side to insert first. Would be nice if there was some “marks” to indicate which way to insert it. This razor was not intended to be a disposable since it has replaceable heads. There is a similar Hydro Silk razor which is disposable and with the refills being rather expensive for this version, the disposable version may be a cost efficient alternative. The section storage cup did not work well and kept falling off. Since the gel strip is water activated ensure that it is not stored where it may accidently come into contact with it. I have not had this razor long enough to comment on the durability of it and length of blade service. Currently I would considering using the Hydro Silk as my main razor, probably the disposable version.

SUMMARY: Definitely one of the best products I have used for manual hair removal; good value for the price; shaving is made easy with its well thought out design; however, it did make my legs slightly itchy after use.
PROS: - Head rotates back and forth approximately 45 degrees. This enables the razor to follow your curves and, as a result, you do not have to worry about cutting yourself. - The handle is larger than those on disposable razors and some other brands. It also fits nicely in your hand and has an indent for your forefinger to rest in, which means you have a good grip while using it. - Because of its size and shape, it feels much better quality than other brands and not at all "cheap." I anticipate this razor lasting a long time. - It lubricates so well that you do not need to use a shaving foam. I was blown away by how much came out of the razor's head as I was using it. (If I pulled the razor away from my leg, I could actually see the lubricant stretching between the razor and my skin.) The head of the razor also moisturizes as you go, so your legs are soft and smooth when you're done. Note: The lubricant is water-activated, so be sure to get the razor wet before using! - It comes with a plastic/rubber holder. I was really pleased with this; I can put the razor anywhere in my shower/bath.
CONS: - I have really sensitive skin -- even using this with shaving foam left my legs a little itchy (nothing that an after shower moisturizer couldn't fix, though). I don't usually have this issue with razors, so I wonder if it is something to do with the moisturizer/lubricant formula in the item's head.
CONCLUSION: A great value razor for your money, but expect some itching if you have sensitive skin. Not only does it have a sturdy and well-made frame, it comes with a replacement head as well as a plastic holder that can stick anywhere on your bath/shower.
The Schick Hydro Silk does an above-average job in shaving your legs and under-arms; I would classify it as a good value however the lack of a good quality moisturizing pad on this razor is the reason behind the removal of one star because it makes a big difference after shaving a sensitive part of your body! Nonetheless, we are satisfied with this razor; no cuts as it shaves well.
