Product Description

Suzie Allen gets a call to inform her that her estranged Uncle Harry has passed away and has unexpectedly left her Dune House, a beautiful house on the beach that was once a Bed and Breakfast. With her best friend, Mary, going through a messy divorce, the two decide to get away and go to the small town of Garber to see the house.

Despite the stunning setting, the house has been neglected for years and is in a terrible state of disrepair. Suzie and Mary make the decision to refurbish the house together.

But then, Suzie and Mary start finding evidence that maybe Uncle Harry didn’t die of natural causes. Suzie’s investigative background as a journalist takes over and the ladies go on a search to discover what secrets the house holds. Will these secrets reveal a dark side to Suzie’s strange cousin, Jason?

Was the decision to refurbish Dune House the worst mistake of their lives? Or is this the beginning of an exciting new chapter?

HASH(0x9f4f1b70) out of 5 stars Too simplistic Feb. 22 2015
By C Thilmany - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Definitely a light read; too light. Very simplistic story about a woman who inherits an old rundown house on a beach that had once been a bed and breakfast. She and her best friend go to check it out and while cleaning it up, discover a mystery.

There’s no real depth to the either the tale or the characters. It had more of a feel of reading a book report than a mystery. No twists and turns. No feel of being in a character’s head to experience their emotions. The climatic confrontation started off with some promise, but that too was glossed over.

Picked this up when it was offered for free, but I can’t see myself reading any others in this series.

HASH(0x9f464444) out of 5 stars Short but reallly good June 17 2014

I have been trying some new cozy mysteries...and this one did NOT disappoint. It was quite short...but, left me wanting to read more. Can't wait for book 2 to come out. I really like that the sleuths in this one are a little older too. Great book!

HASH(0x9f5f3654) out of 5 stars Undeveloped Aug. 19 2014
By Judy S. Hallstrom - Published on Amazon.com

Potentially a good story but characters are not adequately developed and there are many plot details missing, The writer needs to focus on developing rather than telling so the reader can discover. Cozy doesn't mean dumb or trite.

Since it is 1 in a series, maybe subsequent volumes will show improvements.

Cute story. I enjoyed it very much. It's fun to read about older sleuths. I very much appreciated the lack of vulgar language. Very refreshing.

HASH(0x9f47a264) out of 5 stars A good beginning June 2 2014

This a setup story. This beginning sets up this seaside town with its characters, picturesque setting and it's secrets. It has a way, if only briefly, to hook you in. I would expect more is on the way, as this is a short story.
