SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND is the second storyline in Monica Murphy’s contemporary New Adult romance series Drew + Fable. For me, this particular novel was not as emotionally strong as ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND because many of the heartbreaking scenes and gut wrenching revelations had already been revealed in the first book.

Second Chance Boyfriend follows Drew and Fable approximately two months after One Week Girlfriend. With the shocking revelations about his past, Drew walks away from Fable believing he is not worthy of her love or her support, but a chance meeting will find Drew and Fable together again, with the realization that both have been miserable without the other. Wounded souls and broken hearts have a way of finding each other and Drew and Fable needed each other just to breathe.

Part of this particular storyline will focus on Drew’s withdrawal into himself; Fable’s new place of employment and a developing new friendship; the dissolution of a family; and the declaration of love between two emotionally broken souls who want to be loved for themselves. But the mind and the body remember and it is difficult to forget the tumultuous childhood and betrayal by those who were meant to protect you. In order for Fable to keep her younger brother safe there is only one option but fate had a way of interfering before it all began. And for Drew to move on, he would have to face the demons head on but not before the woman he loves is threatened.

If you believe karma is a b*tch then she definitely had it coming. When the past and the truth are finally revealed to everyone concerned, the wall between father and son will begin to crumble and a new beginning is on the horizon.

Oh, Drew. Oh, Fable. You are like my crazy rollercoaster romance ride. And, I just can’t stop paying for tickets. Just when you think things cannot get crazier. Well, they calm down (ish) then get ten times crazier. The first book was ABSOLUTELY ridiculously awesome and so messed up. This book is the aftermath. Drew is trying to deal, and Fable is trying to move on. But Drew can only deal by being with Fable, and Fable can’t move on. Oh Dear lord. So take all the awesome ingredients that make this awesome sauce and add in some new characters that make you question their motives, and you have an awesome sauce 2.0. Congrats you’re officially dependent on Monica Murphy’s writing.
My toes curled. My eyelashes fluttered. At one point I face-planted my pillow and told it how I was doing. That is the effect of Drew and Fable. You wonder when they will both stop acting like jerks and start accepting and being together. The book made me think about the importance of family, but the family that not only the family that is by blood, but that chooses you also.
Monica Murphy took me on another beautiful adventure into the life of two young individuals just trying to make it with what life dealt them.
So, thankfully, I’m left smiling after reading this book, and I find myself marking the day on my calendar that the third novel comes out.

Good:

Fable—She’s strong, determined, and independent.

Drew—A complete hottie and football star, with a messed up past. He’s trying to keep a good relationship with the people that love him, but trying to move on from the rest. It’s not an essay thing to do.

Bad:

I was frustrated at one point with the characters and just wished they would snap out of it.

In this second and final part to Drew and Fable's story. They have been apart for two months. After Drew's stepmothers revelation he has turned in on himself. His life is falling apart, he's falling apart. Fable is miserable without Drew, and things at home are not any better with her mother. She's still paying all the bills and looking out for her younger brother Owen.

When she gets a better job in an upmarket restaurant, her and Drew's paths cross. The connection between them is still very strong, it's not long before they are tentatively starting to see one another. But can their relationship survive everything that's coming.

This second part is much more emotional than the first book, and is even better IMO. I love both Drew and Fable they are such sympathetic characters. Everything about this story is intense, and makes for essential reading. It's one of those stories that you just can't put down. The love scenes between Drew and Fable are sensuous and passionate. The supporting characters are excellent as well. I loved Fable's younger brother Owen he was very well written.
Ms. Murphy has become an author to watch IMO. I will definitely be reading more of her work

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Second Chance Boyfriend. Once you've read One Week Girlfriend, you'll be so glad to read this! This author writes like a seasoned pro, the pacing, dialogue, descriptions are all so incredibly well balanced and so REAL. I honestly feel like I know Drew and Fable, she writes characters that well! I cannot wait for another book by Monica Murphy, it will be an auto-buy for me. She's just such a breath of fresh air in this sometimes stale genre. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend both books.
