About the Author

“Mother of a superhero…Writer of romantic smut.” Rebecca is a coffee drinking, music loving, working single mother and writing insomniac. When she’s not writing, she’s reading and when she’s not reading she’s squeezing her eyes shut and willing sleep to descend. She writes about serious issues, giving emotional turmoil a twist and adding a little ‘British’ humour and dry wit. Her stories are real and relatable, yet unexpected and unpredictable. Every writer was a reader first and Rebecca owes her passion for creating and telling emotional tales to the stories she has read and the people, places and experiences that have, and continue to, inspire her. Rebecca wants her readers to escape to a world where fairy tales and true love exist, wrapping her stories up with angst, passion and curveballs you won’t see coming. Her writing aims to bring problems and tragedies people face every day to light, make them relatable and leave her readers thinking long after they’ve read the last page.

HASH(0xa03c5cf0) out of 5 stars Outstanding Story of True Love Sept. 13 2013

Ms. Sherwin told a beautiful story about Deacon and Jenna. They were best friends for as long as both could remember. They are from a small town and their families are very close.

Second Chance Hero is the epitome of never giving up on love, no matter the lapse of time, circumstances in life that arise, and tragedy that happens when life decides to throw a wicked curve ball.

Once I had the time to start her book, I was glued. I couldn't put it down. Every sentence pulled at my heart and I had to keep turning the page.

Not only is this story about never giving up on love, it's also about growth, redemption, family, passion, second chances, and believing in yourself.

Family is everything to both Deacon and Jenna. Not only did I instantly fall in love with Deacon (what girl wouldn't? Tall, muscular, smart, driven, sexy as hell, and an accent!), my heart became attached to Jenna. She is strong, beautiful, charismatic, and intelligent.

In Ms. Sherwin's story, she described the characters and their feelings so well. I cried when they were sad and laughed when they were happy. I also got mad a few times, and cursed them under my breath! Evoking such strong emotions from readers is not an easy task, and Ms. Sherwin surpassed that.

Ms. Sherwin has a very promising future in her young writing career. This book is definitely in my top ten favorites. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

This is a MUST READ! Keep in mind, you will need a box of tissues for some tears!!

HASH(0x9f9e63fc) out of 5 stars Second Chance Hero by Rebecca Sherwin Oct. 4 2013

"What we've got is special; we know each other, really know each other, from the very first chapter. We've skipped a few pages and lost our grasp on each other but she's here, I'm here. We got a second chance at first love." Deacon "Second Chance Hero"

5 stars for "Second Chance Hero" by Rebecca Sherwin. Loved this story !! Ms Sherwin has given us a debut novel that is about family, friendship, love, lust, loss, and second chances. I was hooked from the first chapter.

Jenna Rivera and Deacon Reid have been best friends since childhood. Their families live across the lane from each other, they share family dinners and holidays. They also share the belief that Jenna and Deacon are destined to be together. One Christmas Jenna and Deacon find themselves alone on the beach, where one unexpected kiss changes everything between them. They both run from the confusing feelings they experience in that kiss, their friendship fractured.

5 1/2 years later Jenna is living in London where she settles for a "safe" relationship with Kip {a stockbroker}. Deacon who has suffered the lost of his father and Jenna on the same night {the night on the beach} avoids forming any emotional attachments. His life, revolves around running his father's business and his casual sexual relationships.

Circumstances bring Deacon and Jenna together again some 5 years later, what follows is their struggle to reclaim the friendship they lost and a second chance at exploring the possibilites of love they did not have the courage to declare that night long ago on the beach. They try to work through the anger, mistrust and hurt feelings that has torn their friendship apart and turned them into different people.

I found myself rooting for Deacon, he is sure of what he wants, he knows that he broke Jenna's heart that night on the beach, and he is fighting with everything he has and is to prove his loves for her. He wants a second chance to prove he can be the man she needs and deserves. Deacon is emboldened by his belief that his father always knew he and Jenna belonged together, it is his guiding light and he will stop at nothing to win Jenna back {sighs}.

Jenna on the other hand is so afraid of the all consuming love she has always felt for Deacon. She cannot face being rejected. She is still so angry and hurt that can't let go of her relationship with Kip. She uses it like a sheild too keep Deacon at a distance and off balance. She settles for a relationship with Kip that is safe, a relationship that is void of passion and the burning love she feels for Deacon. I was exasperated with Jenna, I wanted to shake some sense into her.
The sexual tension between Jenna and Deacon jumps off the page. While they are trying to resolve the mistrust, anger and hurt feelings, they cannot help but give into the passion, they feel for each other. Can they learn to put the past behind them? Can Jenna forgive Deacon for breaking heart? Will Jenna be able to admit to herself that what she feels for Kip is not love? Will Deacon have his Second Chance to be Jenna's Hero ?? You'll have to read "Second Chance Hero" by Rebecca Sherwin, to find the answers..

HASH(0x9ed57888) out of 5 stars I just wish the couple would "talk" Oct. 2 2013

This book had a great story. I love books about second chances. Stories like these where childhood friends separate and later meet and find that they always had feelings for each other.

I liked Jenna and I liked Deacon and I felt their connection to each other. My problem with this couple was that they were never on the same page. When Deacon was trying to make Jenna listen to him, she would avoid him. Then days later Jenna was trying to make Deacon feel good. I wish that they would stop and just sit down and have one long conversation to clear all the misunderstandings.
There were also too many misunderstandings/assumptions with the ex-girlfriends and the ex-boyfriend. I felt they were too old to be constantly "running" from their issues as well. I felt like they were so angry with each other for so long about something that happened 5 years ago they already forgot what they were angry about.

I loved that these two families (Deacon's and Jenna's) had a close relationship for so many years. There was a strong connection. You felt it. I wanted to live there and have dinners with them.

I enjoyed the book. I just wish the characters would stop questioning each other. I think this author has a lot of potential and will be reading more books by her.

This is an old fashioned love story meets new erotica. You will find yourself cheering on the characters and hoping love shows it's self again. So well written and the last few chapters had me crying it was that moving. Loved it. A must read.

Second Chance Hero is the best!
It's addicting and I can't put it down!
I love the story and the characters.
Jenna and Deacon made me crazy!! The story is really great and I love its concept.
The story is just great, just the way I liked it!
It's not boring and it really captured my interest.
I was intrigued on what will happen of these two characters, Jenna and Deacon, if they will get the happy ending they want or will they end up just the way they were five years ago.
The characters are easy to love and they are not boring, they made the story more appealing and interesting.
I love how the dramas were created and the flow of the story is also good, I can easily get hold of what happened in the story.
On how the story ended, I loved it!! I'm not disappointed on how it ended.

Ms. Rebecca did a really good job, great story and characters, easy to understand and not confusing.
All I can say is, this book is so worth reading!
