Product Description

People in the village of Upstate NY find the McClary family to be a peculiar clan; some call them eccentric, others call them crazy. But the strangest of McClary's is Endive, the middle child, nearing forty, and living in a basement above a mortuary.

Endive McClary is a frustrated social worker in a bureaucratic hog tie rendering her helpless to those in need. Invisible to her family, and boyfriend Neil, she comes undone when he ends the relationship. The plot to win him back is foiled by Davin Gray, a rodeo star whose bravado and straight talk repels her but it masks the pain of a troubled past

The Secret of Flying is about living life without fear and the acceptance of love without judgment.

Margaret Buckhanon's fiction has appeared in Birmingham Arts Journal, The Delmarva Review, Mississippi Crow and Shalla magazine.

HASH(0xa81c5468) out of 5 stars Sassy Southern Book Blog Review July 23 2014
By Julie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I was intrigued by the original concept for this book. The characters were my favorite part of the book. They felt like people you might meet in real life. The problems in the story while not extraordinary were written in an interesting way. My one issue with the book is the hopping between reality, dreams and flashbacks. It was confusing as a reader. Otherwise its a interesting read.
HASH(0xa7f3c390) out of 5 stars Interesting!! Aug. 11 2014

Interesting book about a woman's journey to find acceptance, love and most of all herself. The characters were well described and had fantastic interactions. The story was a bit difficult to follow at times as it flipped from dream to present and from character to character rather quickly. All in all, I enjoyed the book very much.
