This review is on the 2020 reissue. One of my favourite albums, I have listened to this hundreds of times and have to say the remix is better - but not by much. As said by Steven Wilson, hard to improve on what was already a brilliantly produced album. Vinyl is definitely the best source although I’m looking forward to hearing the 5.1 remix on Blu-ray but it won’t come close to the sonic qualities of this album and format. I agree with the previous reviewer - the noise floor is practically silent.
To EVERYONE involved in this project - please sort out the quality control of the most important part of this product: the record! My copy is slightly warped (unacceptable shoddy quality) and was packaged in a card sleeve. These are known to scratch records and these days there really isn’t an excuse to not package the record in a poly lined inner sleeve. It never ceases to amaze me that after thousands of hours of work, projects like this fall at the last hurdle. Surely this is the easiest part? Hence the 4 stars.
