Great controller for 6 button games!
Only issue is when using with my Sega Genesis Classic Mini... It does not do well at registering face-button presses and directional buttons at the same time!
Overall it is a pretty good controller but certain situations can be difficult because of this.

Built in "Menu" button is great since you don't need to get up and hit reset on your console to change games.

I like this controller and it is almost a MUST for 6-button genesis games... It is sized like the original genesis controller and feels great. I have no problems with it for most casual playing.
At the end of the day however my friend and I very much preferred using the 3-button controller whenever possible to avoid the above mentioned issue.

Worth it as an improvement for the Sega Mini

Quality controller that looks and feels like the original 6 button. In addition to being able to play Street Fighter (and Eternal Champions if you must...) correctly - it adds a home button that opens the save/load menu and a much longer cable.

It's a shame that Sega didn't include these in the box - but I highly recommend spending the extra bucks if you enjoy the mini.

Greedy Sega rip-off

Greedy Sega is including the 6 button controller with the Japanese version of the Genesis Mini but not any of the others.

Such a wretched slap in the face to Sega's Western fanbase -- the very markets that carried the Genesis to commercial success -- deserves one star.

It goes back to when I purchased the Super Retro-Cade console, mainly because it contained a few games I'd always wanted a licensed copy of for my collection. A budget emulator console with some flaws and limitations one of which is that it didn't work with a lot of popular controllers. So I took a gamble and got these. Comparing them to my actual vintage 6 button Sega Genesis controllers they are virtually indistinguishable (haven't taken them apart to compare the guts) other than the cord. They feel great in your hands, especially if you had nostalgia for the ergonomic Sega style controllers (far superior to anything Nintendo had at the time, yes, even the SNES). The only downside of using these with the Retro-cade is that they don't seem to respond to re-configuring of the buttons. Of course you can use them on your PC which is how most will use them, for emulation.

Some have complained about the 'floating d-pad' of these controllers, but honestly it is the same as my vintage 6 button pads for Sega Genesis from the 1990s.

I would personally always prefer to plug in my vintage controllers to a real vintage console (or retro console that uses cartridges and not emulation) on my crt tv, but when I am using the Retro-cade these I prefer to the ones that came with it (those hybrid sega/nintendo thingies). The lack of proper reconfiguration is a limitation of the console not the controller. The cord length is just right (many retro consoles get bashed on because they tend to be shorter than their North American counterparts, I guess because Japanese consoles tended to be smaller and had shorter cords I guess so you would be sitting closer to a smaller screen, that's my guess). I also was able to plug them into a USB multi-port hub (self powered) and they still worked.

Unlike the 8-button USB Genesis controllers and retro-bit Sega Saturn USB controllers, you do not hold start for 5 seconds to switch to X-input mode from D-input. You hold "Start + B for 5 seconds."
I am grateful the controllers came with instructions this time, though.

Other than that issue, I think these are pretty decent controllers. I have no issues using them while playing Super C in an emulator. That's a game where I find it's easy to die when using a crummy d-pad and you get a bunch of unwanted diagonals instead of just going prone when you need to duck under incoming fire. I don't have that issue with the d-pad on this controller.

I'm excited to use these on the Genesis mini that's coming out later this month.

I'm pretty happy with these controllers, especially for the price they're charging for them.

Side by side with the original controllers you wouldn't know the difference. Even the buttons and dpad feel the same. It is really pretty amazing a third party controller can be this close to the original. I wish Retrobit could get the same deal going with Nintendo for the original NES, SNES, N64 and even Gamecube controllers.
