Product Description

“We thank the Keeneys for their introduction of seiki jutsu to the healing arts. Their way of tapping in to the Dreaming brings creativity to spirituality and healing. We love the direction of this teaching!” (Amy and Arnold Mindell, Ph.D., developers of “process oriented psychology” and authors o)

“Bradford and Hillary Keeney are bold explorers investigating the world’s rich tradition of healing arts. With deep respect and awe for the cultures they visit, the two of them bring back wisdom and practical methods of boosting our health, happiness, and sense of meaning. Their latest subject is seiki jutsu, a powerful form of movement therapy and energy work that looks promising as a way to alleviate some of the problems of our increasingly fragmented and sedentary lives.” (Jay Walljasper, former editorial director and editor of Utne Reader, and author of All That We Share)

“Seiki Jutsu ends with a conversation on "Juggling Zen, Jazz, and Seiki" where the Keeneys put on an awesome display of their wit, playfulness, insight, spirituality, and polyphonic thinking. And because they are filled with energy, it all comes across as perfectly effortless and totally natural!” (Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Spirituality and Practice)

“With a focus on energy, good, bad or unusual, this book is the perfect introduction to Seiki. The authors provide a unique history and examples of how the practice used by the Samurai warriors in the 8th century still works for contemporary artists, athletes, musicians and “performers” in all areas.” (Awareness Magazine, Sonia von Matt Stoddard, July 2014)

“Brad and Hillary Keeney are authentic healers who transmit the energetic life force. Their work reveals a remarkable, rejuvenating, and healing spiritual practice from Japan that promises to open new ways of experiencing your every day. The Keeneys and their teaching of seiki jutsu will change your world!” (Carl A. Hammerschlag, M.D., chief of community mental health at Gesundheit! Institute and author of)

“This text is in the tradition of great memoirs of spiritual discovery like those of Lama Govinda, Carl Jung, and Gurdjieff. . . . The teaching of seiki jutsu itself is yet again one of those radically simple openings to the real--the reminder we always need to return again and again to our origins.” (Don Hanlon Johnson, Ph.D., founder of the Somatic Psychology Program at California Institute of Inte)

5.0 out of 5 stars Seiki Jutsu April 27 2014
By Robert Musikantow - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In 1998 Bradford Keeney published “The Energy Break: Recharge Your Life with Autokinetics. This book was an introduction to the art of seiki-jutsu. Keeney attempted to translate the art of seiki-jutsu into a simplified form that would be acceptable to the modern Western sensibilities. In the process much important context was excluded.

This new book written with his wife and partner Hillary Keeney is a fuller and deeper presentation of the subject of non-subtle energy medicine. It teaches the art of self-healing, as well as how to heal others. As typical of the Keeney’s, they also present material from other non-subtle energy traditions. The daily practice of seiki-jutsu is described in a clear manner, so that anyone can learn the practice. I would suggest, in addition to the book, to watch the seiki videos that are on youtube as well as on the Keeney’s website in order to get a feel for this excellent practice. [...]

By Joseph J. Truncale - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have been a lifetime student of numerous Japanese martial arts (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kenjutsu, Wakizashi-Jutsu etc.) as well as their cultural arts (Haiku, Zen etc.) for more than 55 years. I had never heard of the Japanese Seiki Jutsu until purchasing this very interesting and informative book on the subject. I am quite familiar with Japanese Zen and Haiku (having written three poetry books, one of them Haiku Moments: How to read, write and enjoy haiku).

Even though I am generally a scientific minded person, I do have a philosophical side of me which is why I bought and read this book (Seiki Jutsu: The practice of non-subtle energy medicine by Bradford and Hillary Keeney). This book is organized in a way which makes it easy to follow the material. The introduction explains in general terms what “Seiki” means and is all about. The second part explores the method used and taught by Ikuko Osumi Sensei (Sensei means teacher in Japanese) and the lineage of Seiku Jutsu which was passed on to the authors by Osumi Sensei. The third section explores the transmission of Seiki. The daily Seiki Exercise is covered in the fourth section. The fifth section is about using spontaneous movement to energize and heal the body. Seiki conversation is explained in section six. Section seven covers being mentored in Seiki Jutsu. The final section deals with hatching a spiritual universe. There is also an afterword and an appendix section you should also read.

There is a lot of Asian and Western mysticism involved in the study of Seiki Jutsu, most of which I personally do not buy; nevertheless, I do think this is a book for anyone who is interested in the esoteric approach to life in general. As someone into Zen and Haiku, I appreciate the spiritual aspects of these arts but I still keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. I did think this was a well-written and informative book on this ancient Japanese spiritual art.

Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: The Samurai Soul: An old warrior’s poetic tribute).

4.0 out of 5 stars Japanese energy healing June 3 2014
By BookLover - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Seiki Jutsu: The Practice of Non-Subtle Energy Medicine by Bradford and Hillary Keeney introduces us to an ancient form of Japanese energy known as Seiki and shows us how it can be used to heal ourselves and others.

This book shows us the history of Seiki from it’s beginning to our modern times. We are also taught about the transmission of Seiki. We are give a daily exercise to use to bring more Seiki into our lives. There are people’s experiences with Seiki throughout out the book and it shows how Seiki impacted them. I also like how we are told if we just ask for Seiki it will come into our lives. When Seiki comes to use we begin to move spontaneously and feel more energized and alive.

Overall, I liked learning about a different kind of energy healing that I hadn’t previously known about. I also found it interesting to learn that Seiki had been used by the Samuri. I would recommend this book to those who want to learn about a different form of energy healing. This form of energy healing may be different from what you have heard of before but it will expand your mind to other ways of healing.

I acknowledge that I received this book free of charge from Inner Traditions Publishing in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crossing the abyss laughing June 10 2014
By gabriele pöhacker - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book is NOT a book about vital life force, NOT about this fundamental energie beyond all life manifestions, NOT about some subtile strength described in all religions and cultures of all times. Nor is it a book about SEIKI, how an old Japanese spiritual tradition calls the non subtile life force. And it is NOT a book about big love and how to get hold on it.
This book transports itself, what it is talking about.
You can barerly resist to begin to shake and sing, and joyously follow the ancien track to heaven accompanied by Ikuko Osumi Sensei (lineage of Seiki Jutsu), the Kalahry Bushmen, Christian shakers and numberless traditional spiritual seekers and finders all over the world. Not to forget Hillary and Braford Keeney of course.
This book could be dangerous if you want to stay the same in the same world.
The Keeneys broke my heart open. Following their genial advices how to deconstruc my world for gettin a fresh every day life, I found myself drilling a hole in that wonderfull book as they suggested. Shaking with lough and love.
A book which is bound for crossing abyss . The inner ones and those between human beings, cultures and religions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looking into Seiki Jutsu May 20 2014

I have health problems, and am a practitioner of chi gong (subtle energy). I ordered this book to find out about energy medicine of the non-subtle nature. It was informative, and convinced me to stick to my subtle energy practice of chi gong! That is the only reason for my 'it's OK' rating!
