Who the *bleep* is it aimed at?
I've read it now and the author has told me mindblowing wisdoms such as "young males like porn, young females do not" - "there is no such thing as friends with benefits, one part is Always unhappily in love and you also risk diseases" - "men are afraid of commitment" - "abortion is Wrong" - "shaving your genitalia is preferrable to not doing so, and is not a matter of personal preference and choice at all" - "women want to marry fantasy-ideas" - "men like kinky sex, women almost never do" and several more fantastic and outrageous ideas in the same school.
I would not buy this for my daughter because I do not want her to KEEP living in the pathetic ideal-woman-mould of the 50's where a woman Needs a man to at all survive - I would not buy this for my son, because I do not want to spoon-feed him the idea that he is Supposed to be the driving force, shower women with gifts and attention as if they were prostitutes and always, always be horny, be Manly and NEVER dare have a night where he just doesn't feel like having sex, cause, hey, that's a bit wimpy, no? No!
I, as an adult who feel secure with my own role sexually as well as an individual, was sort of able to giggle at the book and go "oh my, women actually LIVED like this back in the 1950's-1960's? MEN lived like this? This is so oppressive to Both genders that it makes me want to scream!" and I feel good about how far we've gotten since then - until I looked at the publishing year.
I would not let someone who is stuck in that age in time educate my young-adult child on their sexual future.
The writer was possible groundbreaking and a wonder of outspokenness in her youth - but that, and no offense, people can't help how they are raised - WAS actually in the 1950's (she was born 28) - she may have great ideas about sexual techniques, for Dummies, at least - but her ideas and view on gender roles and interaction in adult, not to mention sexual, society are old, rusted and best left in the era where they were possibly useful.
All in all, this book is very informative, tactful, and tasteful. I felt wiser after reading it. It should be required reading for anyone old enough to have sex.
