I also have the original standard DVD release in 2004. This blu ray disc is in 1080i at 1.78:1. The video on blu ray is marginally better than the original standard DVD, but the main difference is in the audio. Here, the DTS HD Master Audio is far far more superior than the original DTS, with much clearer and tighter sound...no comparison. The sound is simply superb!
Hank Marvin is still at his best, one of the best guitarists in the world. Bruce Welch and Brian Bennett were also in top form. (Please note that in 2009 release of Cliff and the Shadows Reunion DVD, Brian Bennett was in much poorer form). Mark Griffiths (who replaced Alan Jones in the 80s) and Cliff Hall were also great.
We have a strong International Shadows fan club in Toronto (with visits from Bruce Welch and Cliff Hall). I know of friends who had the fortune to see Cliff and the Shadows perform live in 2009 in UK. But for the less fortunate few, like us, this Shadows Final Tour blu ray disc is an excellent substitute. Play it loud...you won't regret it. Highly recommended.
At last, this was my last chance and the DVD is perfect: a lot of titles and a perfect sound take. It seems so easy for them ! A great pleasure.
Fantastic music and a must for anyone who is in their 40's-50's and grew up with this music.
