I was given Shagger the Autobiography as a Christmas present and having now read it from beginning to end I have to say it provided me with a lot of laughs as well as taking me on quite a trip down memory lane. The book as expected is autobiographical in nature and takes the main character `Shagger Dan' from adolescence through till his late twenties with (as indicated by the title) a very sexual angle. Yes the title `Shagger' does refer to the sexual meaning of the term but the book is not simply a collection of detailed sexual encounters and conquests, but to me at least an amusing philosophical take on life and relationships.

The result is a very humorous journey of nostalgia that takes the reader through the early 1980s to present day. Shagger is definitely adult in content and provides out loud laugh laughs as well as the odd squirm or wince. As a male reader in his late twenties I'd recommend the book to those in their late teens onwards, especially because there is such a rare look at university life as well as the transition from student to full time employee. Female readers will be challenged by the opinions of `Shagger Dan' and intrigued by the insight into the male psyche. Male readers will no doubt enjoy the humour and appreciate the books raw honesty.

Shagger the Autobiography is advertised as a `train book' but can honestly be read anywhere, anytime. Individual chapters are split into reader friendly short excerpts so that the book can be picked up and enjoyed for five minutes at a time. I have just purchased a couple of copies for friends who I think will appreciate the book and recommend it as a truly original, funny and even at times moving look at life.
