HASH(0x9c86e264) out of 5 stars Shakespeare brought to life April 2 2009
By Sarah Ross - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
With the amazing voice of David Tennant leading off, this fantastic recording includes 75 of Shakespeare's greatest sonnets read by 16 wonderful actors. More than just a simple reading, however, these men and women have lent a dramatic flair to the poems which makes them lyric and utterly beautiful.

The more famous sonnets - "Let me not the marriage of true minds" (116), "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" (18), "My Mistress' Eyes are nothing like the sun" (130) - follow between some of equal power but less notoriety.

Though the Shakespeare nerd is the obvious target for this cd, anyone at all interested in literature, love, or lessons in life can benefit from and enjoy this recording.

I highly recommend it!

HASH(0x9c86e4b0) out of 5 stars Delightful Immersion in The Bard Nov. 18 2010

Wonderful introduction to the majesty and imagery of Shakespeare's love sonnets, which take on new sparkle and meaning when read aloud. The dramatic flair and polished delivery of each of the presenters enables the listener to feel almost as if the poems were written directly for them. Each contributing actor to this collection does an excellent job, but for me David Tennant's presentations top the list. For any of his 'Dr. Who' or 'Hamlet' fans, this CD is a must!
