Look at what you're getting - lots of prize winning stories for the price of a cup of coffee! These are the Shamus Award winners
and they represent some of the creme de la creme of mystery writers. You know what? You deserve this book! It is practically
a gift!

HASH(0xa056afc0) out of 5 stars bang for your buck Aug. 14 2013

This series of stories proved very enjoyable. They are short stories and so some of them are ended clumsily. Despite that problem, the collection included a good variety of characters and given the limitations of the genre, some very good plot twists. I liked this enough to buy Volume 2. Read, relax and visualize the characters.

This is one of the best collections ( and I read a lot of short stories). Many of your favorite authors and several that were new to me in the short format. I have recommended this anthology to several of my fellow crime readers. I plan to buy the second edition to add to my collection.

Good stories, though not in the classic detective mold. I would classify some of the stories here as 'slice of life' stories rather than detective stories. But almost all of them are worth reading.
