HASH(0x9e4c85b8) out of 5 stars Admiral Brim battles at the front for life and freedom! May 3 1997
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
The sixth book of the Helmsman continues to follow Wilf Brim, Admiral of the Imperial Fleet in the same vein as C.S. Forrester classical works. Life and death in the Imperial Fleet is center stage upon which Baldwin builds the continuing career of Brim.
As a middle book in the series, it is prone to all of the shortcuts and assumptions a leading book does not have. But to fans of the Helmsman series this provides more of the same excitement and facination of the originals. Though some of the descriptions have now been used at least six times previously, one can skim over them and continue to watch as Wilf Brim fights for right, and his daughter.
A good progression of the Helmsman series with some mature descriptions of Wilf's love life. Probably a pretty boring book for anyone not already familiar and anxious to see how Wilf Brim lives his live 'In Harms Way"

The plot was very good. The fact that they had to work to stop the League of Dark Stars but because of the IntraGalactic Accord had most of the Kindoms ships scraped the Empire had to get around that and start building ships that were fact and safe to defend the Empire from the League of Dark stars. Also to help save some of the Empires allies to be saved from destruction by the League. This meant that Wilf Brim and the powers to be had to get a new ships together and make a stand against the league. The bears were also attack and they need Brim,s help to convince the King of the bears to build a fleet of star ships to help defend their Kindom against the League attacks. This book is very good and I am sorry that Bill Baldwin ended the series on the seventh book. He really needs to expand the saga. I have read this series of books of the Helms Series about three times. Each time I find something else in the books.

Another excellent book in this thrilling epic space opera series. If you love military based science fiction then you simply must add this book and this series to your library. I've reread this series at least twenty times or more and have enjoyed it every bit on the last reading as I did on the first. While there are some errors in the kindle versions of these books they are not so bad that they keep the reader from being able to enjoy the books, mostly they consist of formatting errors. Overall though the books in this series are well worth the cost for anyone who truly loves the military based science fiction genre.
HASH(0x9e58aed0) out of 5 stars Excellent reading in the Siege - Book 6 of the Helmsman Saga Dec 31 2014

If you enjoy reading good Science Fiction you will fine this a Fun series. These books recount the rise and fall and rise again of a young graduate of the Helmsman academy. Will not get in to the plot of these books, but must say after reading the first I bought the whole series and have enjoyed it and then re read it to enjoy again. I can only hope that the author adds at least one more volume to the series tying up all the loose ends. Highly recommend to those who enjoy readable Science Fiction of the old school.

Every book in this series has been EXCEPTIONAL! I LOVE this series! I looked forward to each and every installment in the series! The action is nonstop and the main character is FASCINATING! The stories are told in the style of the old swashbuckling Wooden Ships and Iron Men. Thoroughly enjoyable and fun!
