Finally an honest, straightforward and useful guide for inventors that thoroughly addresses the various steps required to successfully bring an invention to market. It is well written and filled with thoughtful insights and real world examples that added tremendous credibility to the guidance provided. Unlike much of what I read on the internet, the author is not trying to sell me something. Rather, I got the sense that the author’s primary motivation was to help me succeed by walking me through each step in the process. As a novice inventor, this book was truly what I needed.

As a life-long inventor and entrepreneur, I have read dozens of books on the inventing process. My wife and I have invented more than 50 simple products together and relied on them to make a living with them for the past 45 years. Our book Shark Pitch helps inventors pitch their ideas to retailers and licensees. I wish we had also written Ken Johnson’s The Simple Plan. It is clearly written, easy to follow, and loaded with advice that could only come from someone who has succeeded as an inventor—not just talked about it.
Ken’s book is loaded with easy to follow examples. His six easy steps cover everything from how to know if your idea is worth developing into a product to how you can protect your work. The author does a fine job explaining intellectual property including the importance of patents trademarks and copyrights.
If there is one book on this subject that all budding inventors/entrepreneurs should read, this is it. The Simple Plan guides you along the inventor’s journey from idea to income. I love the way the author weaves his personal successes and failures that led to inventing "Phase 10," one of the top-selling card games in the world. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to turn their ideas into reality and make money doing it. I wish his book had been available 45 years ago when I was learning this business the hard way.

I read The Simple Plan and found it very helpful. The book is laid out in a logical way that helps one to get started and move along the path to licensing. This is a valuable look at how one successful inventor began and journeyed on his way to licensing multiple products. Take what is helpful, leave what is not or that you may already know and then ACT on your idea! The inspiring guidance to ACT above all else is one of the most valuable parts of this book to me.

Ken Johnson's book is a must read for product developers. He explans the six steps from idea/concept to licensing your product or manufacturing it yourself. It is a very informative program. I have read many books, joined entrepreneur clubs and taken classes on inventing, patenting, licensing and how to get your product to market. This book explains it all. I highly recommend The Simple Plan.
