It may be a little unfair since the first was SO good, but it's what it is.
This time around Han is looking for a different demographic to satisfy his quest; last time he massacred innocents, and this time the guilty will not escaped unharmed.
Along for the ride is a lone survivor of the Northumberland massacre...this person, though damaged and frail, really adds to the dynamic. Accompanying that person is a relative of a NM victim, and this person plans to avenge the dead of a loved one. Along with the special investigators looking for the perpetrator of the NM, there are a lot of players here.
This time, Han is the hunted.
Readers are also treated to where it all began. Is a cold-blooded murderer born, bred, or both?
The Concept...the book is about a serial killer, need I say this is the best part! He is complex at best. Han is his name seeking balance is his game, Add twists and turns and passion. This book has it all in spades!!! What most know of his variety of killer isn't much nor will you find the level of knowledge about such but in these pages. The author takes you into a world that many wouldn't dare venture but by chance I found it and felt captivated and enthralled within it's pages. You too will find a happy medium in this tome.
The Word...The author took his time and poured his soul into these pages and it's evident! He took song lyrics and movie lines and placed them within his own thoughts to give you the best of what he had. There is little here that I hadn't heard and that made this book not only entertaining but a welcoming of great memories where music and film are concerned. Every word is well placed and put in perfect verse. As an American reading a British author, I had absolutely no problem deciphering phrases and the differences of wordage. The read was well paced and complete in its execution. A definite must have on any list!!!
I have become quite the fangirl of this author. Many may not like the violence and the gore of these books but doesn't it just tickle your fancy to get into the mind of a monster and see the world through his eyes? I find it a welcome change to the Romance I usually read. If you need grit and truth read Rod Glenn's work. You will never be disappointed!!!
If you haven't read the first please be considerate and don't try the second. Buy Sinema, then while you are at it buy them all. There are three in the series. All equally amazing in their own rights!!
Well, this was a belter. Phase 2 of the experiment is under-way and Han has to kill the best part of 400 bad guys to even out Haydon. Yin and Yang if you will. There wasn't really a big cast in this one - really only about 8 main players and this meant that the writing was tight and tense throughout. The suspense was ramped up in this one with the mysterious 'helper' in the background. The budding relationship made the readers see Han's human side once again. The ending was actually quite sad. The gore was present and thick but only in the context of the killings. Totally recommend this if you have read the first. If you haven't why not??
The chapter headings all had quotes and adapted film covers making it the most illustrated kindle novel I have read. The end result is a very slick and polished novel indeed. A greatly enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone. I read this one quickly because I simply could not put it down.
