The features are great- the instruction manual tells you exactly what dials to rotate to get the stitch you want. The box came with 4 cone threads so I could play around with it right away. Adjusting the tension is a bit of a bother, although I'm not sure if that is universal amongst sergers, or if it is particularly tough on this model. Once you've got everything ready, this machine is an absolute BEAST. It'll plow through the thickest, stickiest, toughest fabric you can throw at it without any bumps or puckers. Leather or vinyl go through this machine as easy as cotton, which was a huge bonus for me.
All in all, it's a great model that does everything I could possibly need, and then some. The only difference I've noticed from higher end models is the lack of automatic threading, but for a $400 price gap, I think it's worth 45 extra seconds of threading. Beginners should find this an awesome model, and I haven't found any reason anybody would need to upgrade.
I will buy via Amazon again .I only had it for a week now so I have not much to say about my Serger enough. I like the threading it is easier than the one I had. I have a Singer sewing machine for years and never had trouble. That is the reason I bought the Singer brand.
