I started to read this book and seriously could not put it down. What a story. The author really managed to keep you guessing u TIL the very end. If you like suspense then this book will not disappoint you.
Dull flat writing and dialogue; and as soon as we meet The Dutchess, the who and why is so obvious there's no need to read the rest. Too bad, because I absolutely loved her book "The Diary". This was just a very by-the-numbers "mystery".
Horrible grammar. Awful dialogue. Nonsensical and simplistic story. Implausible police procedures. Not at all riveting. What's to like? Nothing that I read.

A very easy simple read. When I review a book, I do not rehash what is in the description . I write, based on how I felt about the book, my own thoughts and emotions.
For me, unfortunately, there is one sentence at the end of one of the chapters that completely gives away the very essence of the whole book. I felt that had the author left this out then the storytelling would have been taken to a whole different level.
Also, again, there is a further section in the book, involving the children, where the reader is lead to knowing exactly what was going to happen, that again, had the couple of sentences been taken out, then the book would have, for me, made this a 5 star rating, but unfortunately it spoiled the story.
So, having taken off two stars, now the reasons for the three stars.
The underlying story is very good, it was an uncomplicated read. The characterisation could have delved deeper but was ok. I presume that as there is another book to follow then perhaps the main characters will develop more.

So unbelievable. A young mother whose husband is killed falls for an ex she shunned after meeting her future husband, weeks after her husbands murder. Her 4 year old asks her what AB means because he saw it on the boyfriend's arm (is he a genius) she thinks her boyfriend may have taken her children to the movies, one is just 2 years old, her and her twin were abandoned on a bus when they were 3 and both have same name, her sister does research to find out what their real names are. What research would reveal that? Had to give up before finishing.
A fairly promising start: a female detective with a traumatic past, teamed with a kindly and experienced partner. After that it kind of went to pot with the author grabbing any possible dark or criminal episode, and mixing it up to try and produce a novel. None of the characters had any great depth of personality and the storyline was desperate. I gave two stars though it deserves only one, sorry.
Actually it is the strangest plot that I have come across in a long time. I am absolutely certain that some of the police procedures must be incorrect, as they seem so inept. Murder, gangs, ex boyfriend, dead woman, abduction ..... its al there, but it all seems so unreal.
