I know who Dave Attell by watching his show Insomniac, and I love Dave Attell, and Skanks for the Memories is THE BEST COMIC ALBUM TO DATE! The jokes are fresh, and the laughs dont stop, when I first heard this CD, me and my friend were laughing our asses off because it is this funny.
Dave talks about just about everything; from having an albano friend, a midget friend, and a friend that believes that the Lord Of The Rings is real, and together they call themselves 'The Unf*ckables', and having a woman scream another man's name in the height of passion: 'Oh give it to me Chubacca, work it Spider-Man, oh not in my eye Papa Smuft. Now is she crazy like it says on her braclet, or is she looking at my sheets, I dont know.' Just a little taste from the CD.
This CD is not for everyone, Dave talks about some graphic stuff, especially since his friends are doing yoga, not for him, if he wanted his legs behind his head, he would just go to jail. See what I mean? Also some people might find this album VERY OFFENSIVE (look at the titles on the CD) and THIS ALBUM IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! Dave is all out hardcore on this CD, this is his first CD, and his best. If you like cruel humor like me, then get this, but a word of advice, dont pop this in your CD player in your car because you are likely to crash because you are laughing your butt off.

Dave Attell is very new to me, but after hearing his album "Sk*nks for the Memories...," I think he's a hilarious comedian who's not afraid to take his comedy to the limit. Chances are that you won't be believing some of the things that you hear. As I always love to experiment with new comedy albums, I am glad that this was one that I gave a chance. It was time not wasted, I assure you.
He talks about it all on this album; drinking, drugs, women, fireworks, traveling... and a whole bunch of other stuff that I can't even begin to describe (just check out the track listing and look at the names). And he does a great job. He has a look and feel of his own, which enables him to stand out from others. He can even have a bitter and cold tone at times, which makes it all the funnier. (I kind of see a Bill Hicks influence in him, without the political material).
My favorite bits are "drinking tips," "travel," "flying," "smoking," "bus station," "fun happens late" "religion," and of course, "find that smell." The whole album is entertaining and doesn't miss a beat for a second.
Be warned, this guy's not for everyone. Some may find his material offensive and so on. (Again, look at the track listing). If you don't like comedians who swear and use very adult oriented material, then I suggest you steer clear from the album. If you love all that stuff (like me) then check it out!!
All in all, Dave Attell is a very funny comedian who knows his stuff. I'll have to check out his show "Insomniac" now, as I am curious to see it after hearing the album. "Sk*nks for the Memories..." is an outrageously hilarious album that will entertain just about any fan of stand-up comedy. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Dave Attel is a breath of fresh air in the world of modern comedy. 'Cause lets face it folks, comedy in the 90s, for the most part, [was just bad]. The few good comedians like Dennis Leary or Stephen Wright, are seldom heard of lately it seems. Are they getting old, or is there act getting old? We may never know. True, there are probably dozens of great comedians that came out in the 90s that I can't think of right now, but for the most part, comedy seemed next to dead for the better part of a decade. To most comedians, they thought if they made a funny face or did some weird voice or sound thing with their mouth they'd get a laugh. Unfortunately, they were right. So, I can't tell whose fault it was; the dumb comedians, or the dumb audiences. And for those of us who refused to settle for the run of the mill yuppies who decided to grab a mike and tell a boring story with a few far noises thrown in, we could always turn to Black comics, as long as we didn't mind being insulted and treated like we were somehow either wealthy golf course patrons or crazy gun totin' high school kids (in wake of Colombine of course). So, when I hear someone like Dave Attel, who is so off the wall and often times obscure, and EXTREMELY unpredictable, I feel like I can laugh guilt free. Unlike so many other comedians, he knows when to move on to a new joke. He doesn't wear them so thin that he eventaully has to make fun of himself for not being able to hold the audiences attention. When he's made us laugh at one thing, he changes the subject, often times very abruptly, and moves on. His observations, which all comics use in their acts, are not only more creative in their simplicity, but his delivery and tone of voice will often make a joke 10 times funnier than if some other "funny" man had said it.Read more ›

Although not on television Dave Attell pulls off some of the hardest laughs on his cd. This cd just puts him atop of the comic ladder where he belongs. Not going from club to club, but rather stand up to your cd player he keeps you laughing one joke after another.
Dave is a master of transistions as well, in the cd he goes from one topic to the next with head turning transistions that leave you laughing and just saying to yourself, "Did he really just say that?!"
This cd is a must buy for any comic fan. The cd and the dvd are musts with this comic, and are to me, must haves. So whether it be your birthday, graduation, or just looking for something new pick this up NOW!
