The downloads and uploads are slow but I could actually live with that but here are the main reasons I absolutely do not recommend this product.
1- Sometimes you pay the 8$/day and it doesn't work.
2. The battery does not last very long.
3. They don't have good customer service.
Skyroam put the device on the market to quickly in my opinion, they need to fix the problems before anyone buys this product again.
There are other devices that work with a SIM card, they cost less than 8$ a day, they are faster and do not have as many glitches.
The problem began shortly after I purchased it along with 10 days of Passes to start me off. I was working in Curacao. The technology worked in the sense that it logged me into what deemed to be a strong Wi-Fi signal in the area. However, as soon as I started doing even the most simple things such as Google search, the time delay was beyond slow - slower than when we used to use dial up (and that was slow). I eventually gave up and did not use it again for a few weeks.
I tried again a month later but this time, it would not even log me in saying "Failed to register network, please try later". This went on a three days and after numerous calls and working with the time zones, I started getting emails from their Support Specialist (Chris) who was very helpful and command of English was good. However, despite efforts to help, they could not get me up and running - fast forward a week later.
Still with no connection, I gave up and just tethered my data plan from my phone (which can be an expensive options for long periods and large files). This product's promise is either way over-exaggerated or have been brought to market way before all testing and glitches have been fixed. If you see the two pictures, you will see the error message that keeps coming up and one where it looks like everything is working (and shows connected on the right hand side of the picture) but no connection to the internet (left side of the picture).
More frustrating is that with each complaint (and frustrated email) I send - I get a "we will give you more Passes" which is kind of like complaining that a restaurant has bad food, they apologies but give you a voucher to come back to try their food again.
I love the idea and promise of this product but it simply does not do what it says it will do.
