Product Description

Sadie Hunt isn’t perfect—but her husband is. Nathan Hunt has her coffee waiting every morning. He holds her hand until the last second. He worships the Manhattan sidewalk she walks on. Until one day, he just…stops. And Sadie finds herself in the last place she ever expected to be. Lonely in her marriage.

When rugged and sexy Finn Cohen moves into the apartment across the hall, he and Sadie share an immediate spark. Finn reveals dreams for a different life. Sadie wants to save her marriage. Their secrets should keep them apart, not ignite a blistering affair. But while Sadie’s marriage runs colder by the day, she and Finn burn hotter.

Her husband doesn’t want her anymore. The man next door would give up everything to have her.

Slip of the Tongue is a standalone forbidden romance. Please note it contains adultery themes that may be triggers for some people.

About the Author

JESSICA HAWKINS grew up between the purple mountains and under the endless sun of Palm Springs, California. She studied international business at Arizona State University and has also lived in Costa Rica and New York City. To her, the most intriguing fiction is forbidden, and that’s what you’ll find in her stories. Currently, she resides wherever her head lands, which is often the unexpected (but warm) keyboard of her trusty MacBook.

Wow, that was intense. It was messy, complicated and frustrating. It was hot, sexy and forbidden. I wanted to laugh, cry and scream. The best part of this book was having absolutely no idea how it was going to turn out in the end. I'm always disappointed in a book when I can see something coming early on. With this book, I really had no idea how it was going to end until the very end. The hardest part of this book was realizing that sometimes in a love triangle, not every character is going to get their happy ending. At one point I found myself wishing that they could all live together happily ever after, one big happy family. This book was beautifully written and there were so many real life truths and lessons incorporated into the story. We are all human. We make mistakes. We can be weak. We doubt ourselves and our choices. We even doubt fate. This book delves deep into the ugly truths and raw emotions of infidelity. If you are uncomfortable reading books with cheating, I would highly recommend you put those reservations aside for this book. Take a chance on it because it's a great lesson.

I've never read any of Jessica Hawkins' work before, and I'll admit that I went into this book with the mindset that I wasn't going to enjoy it. The reason being that the female character in the book is married and has an affair with her neighbor. Cheating is not something I personally I like to read about. The reason I chose to read Slip of the Tongue was because I'd heard a lot of fantastic things about this book from other readers, so I figured I'd give it a chance. I'm so glad that I decided to take that chance because I freaking LOVED this story!!!!

I don't want to go into detail about the storyline because I know if I did it would without a doubt ruin it for other readers who have yet had the pleasure to experience Sadie, Finn and Nathan. All you really need to know, is that I loved it, which I did. A lot! :)

I look forward to reading more from this very talented author. Thank you so much for such a beautifuly written, angsty, and very sexy reading experience Jessica!

This book is just so emotionally charged, I felt so many emotions while reading it and had to put it down in places to take a minute or two.

Jessica Hawkins floored me with her writing and made it so they you can relate to all of the characters under all circumstances.

This book shows the power of communication in a relationship and what can happen when you remove it, relationships will fall, feelings will hurt and people will react fuelled by the emotion evoked in them.

Perfection is an imperfection in itself and in Sadie, Nathan and Finn's story, Sadie learns this the hard way. Sadie has also deemed her marriage perfect so when it no longer is she becomes lonely isolated and destructive to a point. Nathan is pushing her away and closing in on himself and Sadie has no idea why.

Things take a turn when Sadie meets her new Sexy artsy neighbour, their ease with each other feels as if they have known each other much longer. Finn is a kindered spirit for Sadie and a fate believer and his and Sadie's relationship develops quickly leaving Sadie's world spinning and her marriage to Nathan more distant then ever.

”…if I had your love I wouldn’t waste it like he does. He’s playing a game with you. He’ll regret pushing you away, though, when he realizes I’m here, waiting to catch you.”

I loved The Slip of a tongue because it really touched me and yanked at my heart strings, it's a beautiful love story with a twist and I throughly enjoyed it and will recommend for a long time!

Great read!

Wow. Torn is what I am.
My head hurt with indecision. I wanted Sadie to chose Nathan, her husband... until she meets Fin, the sexy as sin neighbour! I flip flopped between the men as much as she did!
My poor lip is sore through being bitten in anxiety.
The sudden change in Nathan's behaviour towards Sadie is heartbreaking and confusing. It's not good to pussyfoot around each other! I was so mad at both of them for not communicating.
Fin... Oh Fin. I love you. I was also rooting for him. I am a hopeless romantic and he ticks ALL the boxes.
Who will Sadie chose?
Glad I'm not her!
Tough choices.
