Product Description

Newly broke girl Alexandria Asher just wants to live a normal life. After her parents are sent to prison on embezzlement charges, she enrolls in college under her mother’s maiden name and tries her best to pretend she’s someone else.

Tristan Prescott is everything Alex is trying to avoid. A seemingly egotistical, lazy, rich jerk, she dumps her beer on his head when he comes on to her one night at a party. This only spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.

Despite her reluctance, Alex finds herself quickly involved with Tristan. Underneath that playboy exterior is a good guy, a sweet and sexy guy who she is undoubtedly falling for. What they both don’t realize is the actions of Alex’s parents are the reason for so much tragedy in Tristan’s family. And when Tristan discovers who Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?

Wasn't my fave in the series. But I still really liked it. I found there to be a lot of sweet moments and I really loved watching these two come together.

HASH(0x9cdf9bc4) out of 5 stars I love this whole series Oct. 21 2015
By Tatia White - Published on
Format: Paperback
I remember seeing a picture that Ms. Murphy posted on Instagram saying how excited she was about the release of Slow Play, about how Tristan's story was her favorite in the series. I thought to myself that it would have to be some story to beat Shep in my book. He's always been my favorite. Well, Ms. Murphy, guess who's story is now my #1?
Man-whoring, a$$hole, black-hearted, stuck-in-his-ways Tristan. He's has selfish as they come. He uses women for one thing - his pleasure. He's never worried about what they wanted, if they got off, or if they had a preference. Get in, get off, get out. That's him, until one Halloween party when an angel dressed in white took over his every thought. Now Tristan's fighting feelings he didn't think he'd ever have to deal with.
Alexandria was just looking for a new life, away from everyone and everything that was ever involved in her past. She's focused on her and rebuilding a life where she's actually happy. The last thing she wants is the attention of the biggest player on campus. Unfortunately, that's what she has. With her new friends in tow, surely she can thwart his advantages and he'll eventually give up, right?
I loved everything, EVERYTHING, about this story. Tristan and the fight he put up. Alexandria and her will to not give in. That's the funny thing about love though. It usually knocks you over when you least expect it, and you fall hard. I couldn't stop thinking about it. Heck, I dreamed about it. I went to sleep thinking that I couldn't wait to wake up, get the oldest off to school, come back home and pick up reading again. I had to know what happened. I knew the big plot twister was coming. I knew secrets would be revealed, the past would catch up, and it would test everything Tristan and Alex had built. And it did. I didn't know if there was enough time in the story to salvage all that had went wrong. I was worried. Have no fear, though. We get the ending I did not see coming. Sexy, stubborn Tristan surprises us all.

HASH(0x9cdf9c18) out of 5 stars 4 Slow & Sensual, Sizzling, Sultry, Stars! Oct. 14 2015
By Lindy@ A Bookish Escape - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
My Thoughts:

I have really enjoyed The Rules series. I've loved all of these main characters, and watching their journey to finding true love. Shep, Gabe, and Tristan, were all sexy leading men, and I loved watching their transformations from manwhore to man in love, when they met their soul mates, Jade, Lucy, and Alex.

Tristan Prescott is the ultimate bad boy. He never sleeps with the same woman twice, is arrogant, has the worst pick-up lines, and is use to getting whatever and whoever he wants; with absolutely no effort on his part. That all changes, when he meets the beautiful, closed off, and confident, Alexandria "Alex" Asher. When Tristan see's her, he is determined to have her for the night. However, Alex, has no problems with turning down this bad boy, and the more she continues to resist him, the more he wants her.

Pretty soon Alex and Tristan are circling around each other. Flirting, and fighting, these two take two steps forward and one step back. Tristan isn't fond of labels, but Alex wants to know that he is serious about her. Another conundrum, is the fact that Alex hasn't shared her shameful family skeletons. Unfortunately, there is a connection there that neither Alex or Tristan are aware of.

From the moment I met Alex, I adored her. She was strong, independent, down to earth, and an all around good person. She knew how to put Tristan in his place, and demand the respect that she deserved. Alex was a very special lady, and the only one that had the ability to being out the best in Tristan.

Initially, Tristan was hard for me to warm up to. His arrogance, the way he spoke, and thought about women, made me angry. He was the poster child of a "bad boy." However, realistically, and little by little, he transformed. We got to see a new side of Tristan. Alex brought out a more caring, romantic, and sweet side in him, which had me swooning. The ending of Slow Play was perfect! I was left with a smile on my face, and pure joy for Tristan and Alex.

My Rating:

I give, Slow Play, by Monica Murphy, 4 Slow & Sensual, Sizzling, Sultry, Stars! By the way, there are a lot of references to the television show, Sex in the City. This is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I loved how Ms. Murphy incorporated it in to the story! Slow Play was another great story by one of my favorite authors, and I recommend The Rules series to fans of New Adult Romance.

HASH(0x9d069b1c) out of 5 stars His two other best friends how now found love Oct. 19 2015
By Danielle ShortandSassy - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
3.5 stars

Slow Play is the 3rd book in The Rules series. Each can be a standalone, so if you haven't read the other 2, you are still ok!!

Tristan Prescott is the last and standing. His two other best friends how now found love, and he is all alone. Tristan has always been a jerk and ladies man. He like a different girl every night. That is just how he is. Conceded and cocky. The girls love it, so why change???

When he least expects it her crashes into Alexandria Asher.Literally crashes in to her. Love makes you change, or so the saying goes. Tristan sees a whole new world once he is introduced to Alexandria. Alexandria is new and she doesn't know much about Tristan, but she is forewarned about him and his antics. She sees that is not the settling down type. For that alone she is not interested.

Tristan is relentless in trying to win over Alexandria, which includes watching Sex and The City with her for hours (super cute). The whole dating and relationship experience is all new to Tristan.

This was a light and fun read for me. Not too much drama or angst. Just your basic college romance with a few twist and turns.

HASH(0x9cdf9ea0) out of 5 stars Forgiveness and Redemption Oct. 15 2015

Tristan is the most heartless womanizer on campus. He gets away with his actions because he is so good looking and such a sweet talker. Woman flock to him and he is a spoiled Romeo until Alexandria.
Alexandria used to be a spoiled rich girl, until her parents were caught embezzling and their house of cards fell all around them when they were caught. Alex was a victim in this devastation. She was left only with a trust fund for her education and the clothes in her closet. She moved away and started college and a new life. She sells her former life's clothes and accessories in a consignment store to pay for rent and food and lives a quiet life until Tristan. The first meeting was explosive and a silent battle begins between the two. The sexual attraction is there but Alex needs more and Tristan needs less or so he thinks. Good story and entertaining read.

HASH(0x9cdf9e40) out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked. Nov. 7 2015

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Going in I wasn't completely sure if I would like it or not. I loved the first book in the series but wasn't a fan of the second so I went into this one not knowing if I would like it or not. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is just something about a cocky manwhore that I simply can't resist and Tristan definitely fit the bill. He was cocky, kind of an ass and definitely a manwhore but I absolutely adored him. Yes, he's rough around the edges but when we finally see beneath his cocky exterior he was a sweetheart. I loved him and Alexandria together.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Monica Murphy in the future.
