This is a must-read for all Canadians who want to know how the country's recent foreign investment deal is impacting them. This unfair agreement really reflects the priorities of our current government, and Van Harten does an exceptional job of outlining what needs to be done about it.

Important subject, interesting if ultimately unpersuasive conclusion. Legalistic in method and frame, a useful outline of the potential risks of the agreement using a worst-case mode of analysis and an accurate portrait of the so-far limited and unimaginative defence by the Harper government and Canadian business leaders. What is missing is a broader picture of how the FIPA fits into the bigger picture of Canada-China relations and efforts to stimulate and provide a measure of protection to two-way investment.

Shocking and easy to read, this book reveals the reality of how Canada's new deal with China affects all Canadians - and it doesn't look good. Definitely deserves a read before the fall election.
