Product Description

Veva Matron is a feisty girl raging with suppressed anger and distrust of men.
Solis Cronus is a blindingly beautiful, Greek god of a guy, who likes to play women.

An electric hatred thunders through each of them about the other until one night, lightning strikes. A world of secrets reveals the destiny of two at odds with one another, and clouds the line between love and hate. Can a lively girl find calm in the stormy tension of a boy made of sunshine and sin?

The mythical tale of Zeus and Hera reignites in this modern interpretation of enemies to lovers. Full of flirty sexual angst and teasing temptation, Solis might be the one man who can extinguish Veva’s angry fire and ignite a different sort of flame: desire.

I received an ARC of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Give Me Books!

Alrighty, I wasn't a huge fan of this book. Which is surprising, since I am a sucker for Greek Mythology. Solis and Veva's story just didn't resonate with me.

Solis, although totally yum with his painting hobby, was way to pushy for my liking. He kept nearly pushing Veva to her breaking point at so many instances in the book, and that didn't sit well with me. Also the fact that he was hurt about Veva not trusting him about something he did before meeting her; like, he was a player back then, what was she supposed to think?

In addition, the ending of the book seemed a little frazzled for me. I wish it had been kept simpler, and that Solis and Zeke had arrived later to release the anticipation. The book lacked release in my opinion. It was as if, there was no more room in the book, and all the loose ends had to be tied up, presto.

I also found the bloodlines hard to follow at times, and kept having to re-read passages to make sure I understood correctly. Sometimes, having many characters can lead to confusion.

All in all, I found this book entertaining, but not magical.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all Greek to me March 9 2017

If you have a love for Greek mythology then Elda lore modern day twist is for you. Solis is the second book in the modern descendants series. This is Solis story and the search for the one who would complete his lost soul. Persephone and Veva decide to not to go back home to the Farm for the summer; Persephone still has to many memories of her lost love Hades and Veva needed a break from her mother. They spent the summer at Zeke's estate who was a family friend/uncle. Solis and Veva's relationship has a rough start. Because of all the bitterness from Veva's mother your not quite sure if a relationship between her and Solis will ever bloom. You will discover so many secrets; and at times I found myself yelling at Veva, begging her stop sabotaging her happiness. You will just have to read for yourself and find out if things work out for Solis and Veva. Elda Lore takes us on another hot roller coaster ride with many surprising twits. You will be emotionally spent but love every minute of it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Solis gave me all the feels I love to experience when reading a story Jan. 30 2017

Solis gave me all the feels I love to experience when reading a story. To my understanding, Solis was a god of the sky or heavens may be a better way to describe it. One thing that Elda excelled at, with this story, was describing actions and scenes from that perspective. She could always pull in elements of the sky; the heat of the sun, electrical feel of lightening, intense thunder, sadness of grey skies and clouds, into scenes when Solis was touching Veva or thinking of her. It made the reading and scenes feel electrifying! I thought those scenes were so awesome that it made the book! It's so refreshing when authors can make the readers feel those intense scenes themselves. My real rating for Solis is more along the lines of a 4.5 and a great second addition to the Modern Descendants series after reading Hades!

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book.

I believe I am officially addicted to the Modern Descendants series. I had completely underestimated both Veva and Solis when I read the blurb, but had enjoyed Hades so much I had to jump right in.

I am also quickly realizing my education in Greek mythology was woefully lacking in school. Ms. Lore is making me want to re-educate myself, which is always a good thing. I am completely intrigued by the Cronus family she is gifting us. I truly did not think I would fall so hard, but the siren call of sweet Heph is too great for me to continue my praises in this review. Start with Hades and then move on to Solis, Heph and....I can't wait to read whomever else she will share with us!

Solis was a amazing read. I could not put this book down. I loved seeing characters from the first book and meeting the new characters introduced in this book. Elda Lore does a amazing job keeping you wrapped up in the story all the way through. I love mythology and I very much enjoyed the twist she put on it. I'm really excited to read the next book about Heph and I can't wait for it to come out. I really recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

For me, Solis had some big shoes to fill, and fill them he did. His "dad" was the very epitome of a jerk at times, to say the very least,But when true love found its mark, He shined brighter than a thousand suns.:) Thank you for another awesome read. I fall for each and every one :)
