Teapot has already discoloured in a week

I am really disappointed, I was so excited with this teapot, but we have only had it for a week and it has already started to discolour. I don’t understand why and I really do not want to return it :( we have a gas stove and I noticed a lot of the reviews are for induction. I don’t know if our item is just defective or unlike the instructions listed it actually isn’t really compatible for gas stoves. I would want to try a replacement or exchange but there is no options listed for that.

Looks great. I'm only giving 3 stars because of the design. The handle is hot! I guess that's why the give you the silicone glove, but really this is a design flaw.

It's good size for us, but the kettle is quite lightly made and the paint had started to peel off after a short time. We've only ever wipe it down with a damp cloth. Doesn't whistle very loudly, but all said and done, it's a kettle, it boils water.

I’m so sad about this stove teapot! I’m returning it. Every time I dry the inside with a dish towel, tons of black comes off! I was drinking plain hot water and noticed black specks floating everywhere! I washed it a few times and same thing kept happening! It’s really big. Nice style. After boiling water one time, the stainless steel spotted in side but I guess that’s normal from the fire... after reading tons of teapot reviews for stoves, this was the best option I had thought. I’m going to try a borosilicate glass Stove teapot instead. This does whistle! It takes a long time though, I almost turned fire off because I didn’t think it was going to whistle. But it does.

Pros:
The whistle is loud enough (it's not that loud, but we can hear it from most areas in our apt).
Nice size!

Cons:
the spout is kind of short- not easy to pour all the water out.
The handle is small and hot!

More on that: Why not add some of that rubber from the complementary glove to the handle itself? I'm sure less rubber would be needed... is it really more cost effective from a manufacturing standpoint to make a poorly-insulated handle + an extra rubber glove.... instead of just y'know.... an insulated handle?

CONCLUSION:
Yeah I like it. 4 stars for a whistling teapot.

The kettle arrived on time and is as lovely as the pictures indicate. I unpacked it, read the washing instructions (which are to boil a pot of water, rinse it out, and then use the kettle). I washed it first with dishsoap and my kitchen sponge. My kitchen sponge is now black despite repeated rinsing. I washed it 2 more times with soap and a clean, soft cloth. Still finding dark residue on the cloth, I boiled the kettle, mostly full, with clean water, poured it out, waited for it to cool, rinsed it and washed it with soap and a new, clean cloth. This fourth wash, post boiling, delivered more dark residue on the cloth. I'm boiling it for a second time now. I may update this and I may just return the product.
I worry about people who follow the cleaning instructions: what are they ingesting?!

I guess it's partly my fault for not realizing the top would be hot, and although it does come with a black glove, but I don't want that extra step just to be able to move the kettle. So I returned this one, and got the same color and design but with a black handle that I can pick up. If you're cool with picking it up with a glove in exchange for the silver look, go for it.
