Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde and clairvoyant Olivia Emerson make it back to New York without killing one another, and are now joined at the hip for better or for worse. Back home again, Sullivan’s deep ingrained inability to make a commitment causes friction between them, almost driving Olivia to the breaking point. Sullivan’s young daughter Sabrina offers invaluable insights, while Olivia struggles to make their relationship work.
Fellow investigators Kelly and Hudson Hayze, a brother and sister duo, along with their producer Arnav Bhandari, make up the rest of the Soul Scavengers family. The team members are excited to meet Olivia, and make no apologies for torturing their cranky colleague over the sins of his past, latching onto his obvious attraction to the fresh-faced clairvoyant.
When the Soul Scavengers team find themselves called to a mysterious mansion in rural Illinois, they get a little more than they bargained for. Ghostly giggles, squeaky, bouncing beds, clinking champagne glasses and whispers of sweet nothings make it difficult for the team to concentrate, let alone proceed with their investigation. A hundred twenty-five year old love triangle threatens to expose a long-forgotten secret when the ghost of a heartbroken young paramour attempts to shed light on the mansion’s dark history.

Sullivan and Olivia are now joined at the hip for better or for worse and the Soul Scavengers team are called to a mysterious mansion in rural Illinois where they get a little more than they bargained for as they attempt to shed some light on the mansion’s dark history in this riveting urban fantasy.

Sullivan’s deeply ingrained inability to make a commitment is causing quite a bit of friction and emotional turmoil between him and Olivia and the readers can’t help but get caught up in their rocky relationship as Olivia is driven almost to her breaking point, especially once their fellow investigators Kelly and Hudson start torturing their cranky colleague but none of that brings the sizzling and undeniable attraction between them to a halt, it just makes for some interesting events some of which adds some chuckles. The strong captivating duo is now joined by more engaging characters that grab the reader’s attention and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot draws readers in with suspense, turmoil, excitement and romance.

Most of the spine chilling excitement comes from some spooky interactions with the spirits of the mansion that the team is investigating because this is one investigation that takes quite the deadly turn with some unexpected surprises keeping the team on their toes, but that’s not all the excitement this story has to offer as some personal and family surprises adds spice to the story as well.

Sullivan and Olivia’s romance is balanced on a cliff’s edge and I’m not sure just where it’s going to land as Sullivan and Olivia both kind of keeping getting in their own way not to mention the team and the ghosts manage to cause quite a bit of trouble for the couple as well. As for the series I have to say that it is more like a serial, at least regarding the romance part of the story and this one ended on a quite a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

HASH(0xa0982c9c) out of 5 stars Sometime age does play a role in emotions Aug. 25 2014

Format: Kindle Edition
I was given a copy of "His Wounded Rose" by author Lisagh J. Winters for participating in the book tour hosted by Star Angel's Review. I know that I am late on getting this up, but I had a major health issue pop up and between surgeries and the treatments, I have been so sick. I hope that all that came to my website in hopes to seeing this review will forgive me...this is especially is extended to Ms. Winter and Star Angel's Review.

In "His Wounded Rose" we pick up with Sullivan Wilde and Olivia Emerson and follow their tumultuous relationship. Sullivan has shocked Olivia by showing up on her door step on New Year's Eve and sweeping her off her feet. Wilde has done some growing up since we have last seen him. He's more romantic, admits that he has fallen for Olivia and that he's ready to take this thing they have going into the next thing: A Relationship.

Olivia is just speechless over this new side of Wilde. She is still guarded with her emotions, but is so wanting to just let him in. What's holding her back is that she knows he has secrets that he's not telling her. Sullivan's cell phone has text messages that cause her some alarm. Plus, she now is headed to NYC to work with his crew. She's scared to see how they and especially Sullivan, on how they react to them being in a "relationship."

In NYC, Olivia gets the honor to meet Sabrina, Sullivan's insightful daughter. The two start to bond over a connection they have with their talents. Olivia realizes that his daughter has a talent, but Sullivan hasn't yet discovered this, or refuses to admit it. It's through Sabrina that Olivia learns some of what is going on in their relationship.

The real kicker is when Olivia meets the crew. Kelly and Hudson Hayze (brother and sister) are curious about this woman who Sullivan has chased after and brought into their, semi-well-oiled machine. Arnav Bhandari has hired her on per the request of Sullivan. Knowing that she can amp up the ratings with her talents, plus knowing that the star of their show, Sullivan, has all but demanded she work with them.

Olivia learns that there is a secret between Kelly and Sullivan and she is wanting to get to the bottom of the issue. It's just not Kelly but also his past relationships that she wants information on. Olivia feels that she needs to know what is holding him back or has caused him to react the way he is when he is around his crew. Why is he so adamant that they keep their relationship a secret?

Despite the relationship issues they all have a job that needs to be done. They have been summon to Illinois to check out a haunting. Through background work, they find that the Victorian house use to be a brothel back in the 1800's. The current owners are having a hard time living in the house. The ghosts are causing noises all day and night. It sounds as if they are having a party, when the live residents are trying to sleep. Plus there is a heavy scent of roses that wafts through the air at times.

It's once they are on location that things start to heat up. The ghosts start to get physical and attack the team while they are investigating. With camera's being ripped out of hands, bodies in a bed...but their aren't bodies, strong smells of roses, plus more. However, it's during this investigation that Olivia and Sullivan's relationship becomes the main topic of the team...not the investigation.

Now the question is, will Olivia and Sullivan be capable of holding onto this roller coaster of a relationship. There are too many obstacles in the way that is preventing them from moving forward. Only time will tell if they will survive this ride they are on.

I honestly was hoping that this book would hold up the first book. In the first, Wilde and the Witch, I found myself scared by how the violent and evil the ghost was. However, in this sequel, I didn't find myself at all wrapped up in the ghost story. What I found myself focusing more on was the relationship between Olivia and Sullivan. Also, how the crew was reacting to Olivia and Sullivan being together. But more than anything, I was very curious about Sabrina.

I became frustrated with this book beyond belief. I found Olivia's behavior regarding Sullivan annoying. Her age, immaturity, and past issues with men, have really taken a toll on Olivia. In my opinion, she is so focused on needing to know every little detail of his past relationships that it consumes her mind.

For Sullivan, he too has issues with his past relationships, but he has done what most do...shove them in the closet and try to keep those skeletons hidden. It's Olivia that kicks the door open and starts bringing up things that he doesn't want to talk about our deal with. He's trying his best to give Olivia the emotional support that she needs, but she just keep wanting to rationalize too much.

For me this was just too much for me. I so wanted to grab her by the arm and just tell her to stop doing what she is. Her actions were pushing him away and making him withdraw even more. There are just some people who need to know everything about someone, no matter what the other party feels regarding divulging it all.

I hated that this book didn't hold up to the first book for me. I found that in this book Olivia just started wearing on my nerves. I have known people like her in real life and can't handle the way they react to finding out that someone has a secret they don't want to tell. Everyone has secrets. Some people don't like to tell everything. To me her age showed through in this book and it just showed to me that Sullivan picked this one too young. I'm hoping that for their relationship she grows more in the next installment.

I'm giving this book 3 stars due to how I annoyed I became with Olivia. As much as I wanted it to work, I just couldn't get over how she was acting.

HASH(0xa0982cf0) out of 5 stars Honest Review Given July 18 2014
By Mrs Rymer - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book begins where book one ends, with Sullivan going to bring Olivia to Seattle to permanently join the Soul Scavenger team, who are basically a group of paranormal investigators for a TV Show. Sullivan definitely has a lot of commitment issues, but the book does explain his reasons for this.
In this book we get to know the other team members more than we did in the first book. The team consists of Arnav (he's the main boss), Hudson (just an all round funny guy who's very protective of his sister) and Kelly (Hudson's sister).
I must point out that this book takes place over a relatively short time span (a few days at the most) so although it feels slow moving, especially in terms of Sullivan's and Olivia's relationship, things theoretically don't happen as slow as it seems.
We quickly discover that Sullivan once had a relationship with Kelly and it was interesting to find that she didn't display the jealous tendencies that we come to expect from an Ex girlfriend. The same goes for Olivia and things between the two girls are remarkably civil.
The team embark on an investigation of a large house that was once believed to be a brothel and have been asked by the owner to explain the strange goings on. Whilst this is the basis of their location for much of the book, I did get the sense that the story was more about the relationship between the team and also the relationship of Sullivan and Olivia, which gave it a slightly different feel to the first book.
After reading both books, I'm getting a definite sense that this series would appeal more to readers of the New Adult genre, due to the fact that yes, there are sex scenes, but there aren't many and they aren't particularly graphic either, something which doesn't bother me, because the story itself is enough to keep me enthralled.
By the end of this book I found that there are definitely some unanswered questions, but that just makes me want to read Book three all the more and I have to say I enjoyed this book even more than book one. So all in all this is turning out to be a very good series.

HASH(0xa1c07144) out of 5 stars His Wounded Rose (Book 2) Aug. 14 2014

On some level, my reaction upon completing His Wounded Rose was mixed. I'm happy that there appears to be another book on the way that will feature Ollie, a clairvoyant, and Sullivan, a paranormal investigator. But somewhat disappointed I'll have to wait for the third book to find out what happens next, because it does end on something of a cliffhanger. With that said, I definitely recommend reading the first book, as it serves as a great introduction to the characters.

This book does pick up right where the first one ended, and soon they're off on another investigation. This time, their team includes Kelly Hayze and her brother Hudson as well as Ollie and Sullivan. I thought Kelly was an awesome character, and I liked her instantly. Hudson, on the other hand, came across as being something of a jerk. While the investigation that Sullivan and Ollie were on in the first book was intriguing, the one in His Wounded Rose is my favorite of the two. This one drew me in a bit more, because I never knew for sure what was going to happen to the team, and I loved the suspense.

I really enjoyed this book, and recommend it to readers who enjoy paranormal tales. My rating is 4/5 platypires.

The author really did do an amazing job much more then the first I have to say I liked this one more :) It was never a dull moment hell I had to stay up late just to finish the story and see where it ended and how it ended and I'm not disappointed. The story had a 2 person POV feel to it as well and a 3rd person read which was really great because I was able to know multiple characters thoughts and actions threw someone else. I have to say this is a must read heck the series so far is a must read as this was my first ghost hunting series I love it.

HASH(0xa1c075e8) out of 5 stars ... second book in the Soul Scavengers Series and I recommend that these books be read in order because book ... April 16 2016
By UIBB - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the second book in the Soul Scavengers Series and I recommend that these books be read in order because book 2 picks up right where book 1 ends.
Olivia and Sullivan are catching their planes home and even though they had a connection, Sullivan has decided that they needed to keep it a secret. He does however, give her a great recommendation and Olivia secures a permanent spot on the Soul Scavengers team. What she didn’t know, was after their time in Canada, Sullivan had to be hospitalized for pneumonia.
Once Olivia moves to New York, base of the Soul Scavengers, it is apparent that Olivia and Sullivan have a personal relationship which leads to minor issues with the other half of the team, siblings Hudson and Kelly Hayze. You see, Sullivan, Kelly, and Hudson have been friends for ages. Kelly and Sullivan tried to have a relationship, but it wasn’t meant to be. They have remained friends for all these years, but it has left a bit of a bitter taste in Hudson’s mouth that comes out when he confronts Sullivan.

Their assignment this time, is a house that is supposedly haunted in Illinois. The entire team is sent out there for the show. Upon researching the house, Sullivan discovers that it had been used as a “house of ill repute” for a couple of years that was owned and operated by a married couple. During that time, a few of the ladies had disappeared. Working as a team, they uncover cold spots, spirits, and the cause of the hauntings. It doesn’t come without a price. A dark spirit uses their feelings for each other, causing incidents between all of them.

Will the team truly be able to get over their deep seated fears and do what they need to? Can they rid the house of the spirits that are attached?

Again, getting used to the writing style is a must. The author employs a roving pov. It's frequent and sometimes it does get hard to follow. There are some choppy parts, again, it’s the writing style of the author and not an editing issue and shouldn’t be taken as such. The reason for the 4 stars is because I am having some trouble still connecting with the characters. It is still a good read if you are fans of supernatural stories.
