Wow! I was surprised at how good this CD is! It's one that grows on you. (it's not the soundtrack...the soundtrack is the score by Ottman. This is a compilation of Superman songs released in honour of the new film.) Let me rate the songs:

· I AM SUPERMAN - The Academy Is - GREAT cover of REM/ the Clique's version. Great way to start the CD, and addictive 10/10

· IT'S SO EASY - Plain White T's - This song is slightly emo-ish and brand new to me. It grows on you, and is easily singable even if you don't know the words. 8/10

· (WISH I COULD FLY LIKE) SUPERMAN - The Sun - Yes, its the cover of the kinks! This a pretty good cover song, as it is faster paced than the classic. It suits the rest of the album 9/10

· THE WORST PART - Motion City Soundtrack I love this song, it's one of my favorites, as it just isn't a Superman song. It works as a 'nomrmal' song 8/10

· SUNSHINE SUPERMAN - The Films Another aswesome cover! It has a great summer feel to it. 8/10

· SAVE ME - Maxeen no, this isn't a cover of Remy Zero's song. It is slower paced, but too much so?? 7/10

· MY HERO - Paramore This could be seen as the album's weakest. Paramore sings Foo Fighters' classic song... picture Avril Lavigne doing an accoustic cover of Green Day's 'Good Riddance' and you get the picture 6/10

· THE RESCUE - American Hi-Fi THIS song is most likely the one to have the music video, radio play...all that. A brand new song, that if you listen to the lyrics carefully after reading the synopsis for 'Superman Returns' or watching the trailers, this song captures the feel of the movie perfectly. and, its catchy too! 9/10

· SAVED - The Spill Canvas Another good song.

If it weren't for the Paramore cover of the Foo Fighters and the great original track by The Receiving End Of Sirens I think this CD could very easily only get 2 stars. There's a decent song by the Spill Canvas and maybe one or two others at best. But I can't say I was too disappointed since I only bought this album for the TREOS song because in a way it was the last song they made as a band before their new line up. So if you like The Receiving End.. or just really have a thing for superman, then it's well worth the few bucks you can buy it for used.

"Save Me" is an awesome song. In fact, its my favorite on this CD. Maxeen is a great band whom I think have immense talent. You should definitely check out there CD! It's awesome. [...] I think the people who decided to put Maxeen on the Sounds of Superman are very smart. They are a powerfully talented band like Superman!

A very entertaining collection of tracks that have some connection to the great comic book character Superman. Although the vast majority of the tracks are fun to listen to, my personal favorite is "It's So Easy" by the Plain White T's. Great album, highly recommended.

There are stronger songs then others but overall this cd has some very strong hits. My Favorite is Saved by The Spill Canvas. This song alone made me consider buying this bands new album.

HASH(0x9e71f258) out of 5 stars High emotion on this CD Aug. 19 2006

I'm a romantic guy and although I do like a few of the songs on this CD, such as "Saved"(by The Spill Canvas), the one song that I can completely relate to is titled, simply, "Superman"(or as I just like to call it, "you don't know what it's been like") by the Receiving End of Sirens. I relate to the EXTREME strong emotion that is in the lead singer's voice as he screams "You don't know what it's been like, meeting someone like you!"; there is this girl who I like (although I'm shy and can't bring myself to talk to her) and I cry each time I listen to it because it makes me think of her and how important it is that she has struck me in my life; I want her to know that I've noticed her, let her know through the words "you don't know what it's been like meeting someone like you".
