Product Description

Product Description

From the author of Easy, Fabulous Bread Making comes a cookbook that will make you think about Southern food in a whole new way. Contains an interactive table of contents, located right before the introduction by the author.

From the author:

I’m from the South, and I love to cook. Most people think cuisine in the South consists only of beans, greens and cornbread – and though those are delicious – it’s not all we cook here.

When people think of Southern cooking, they don’t think gourmet, but it’s the very essence of gourmet food, nonetheless. We start with fresh ingredients, and we mix them in surprising ways. We mix sweet, savory, hot, and sour with abandon, creating a menu that is fabulously varied. Some of these dishes have roots all the way back to our ancestors who immigrated to this country, and there’s a fine mix of nationalities represented right on our dinner tables.

I have – like all good cooks – tweaked and twisted the recipes to suit myself, and I think you’ll like the results. You’ll find desserts, starters, breakfasts, side dishes, and meats in this cookbook, and they’re all delicious. I’ve given you some of my very favorite recipes, and I believe that once you taste them, you will understand why I love them. The full color illustrations and the easy to follow instructions will make you love them, too.

HASH(0xb29f97c8) out of 5 stars Great recipes and nice layout May 10 2012

Be still my beating heart! I think I found a kindle cookbook that is original, has good recipes that seem to be original, a nicely laid out and useful interactive table of contents!

The pictures accompanying the recipes have a uniformity, taken on the same surface, suggesting the pictures were actually taken originally! The pictures are also nice and drool worthy.

Some of the notable recipes include stuffed strawberries with rum pastry cream, Bacon tomato and apple soup has an interesting twist including beans, bacon and apple. It sounds a little strange but looks like it would work. I can't wait to try the greens crusted rump roast.

I cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to find an original cookbook, with original pictures, correct spelling, interesting recipes, well laid out...Yay!

All I can say is yum, yum, yum! My entire family loved the greens crusted rump roast, and none of us could resist the stuffed strawberries. I am tempted to try the brown sugar pie, but I am not sure my waistline would thank me! The recipes in here are full of decadent delights! I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who likes to indulge with their food.

Having grown up in the South, this was like a meeting of old friends. I love the familiar recipes and can't wait to try those I don't recognize. I highly recommend this cookbook.
