2.0 out of 5 stars Works, until it disintegrates Sept. 5 2010

Yes, this is the case included in Apple's Free Case Program. I however, bought this from the AT&T store. First, I would like to say that I used this case entirely in a humid and hot environment and that may or may not have affected the quality of this case.

When I first got the case, it seemed decent, not great. The case is a two part case, and the iPhone snaps in between the back part and the front part of the case. This is one reason why the case was so fragile and easily broken. It is also the reason why it takes some effort to install onto and take off the iPhone. Within the first few days of use, I noticed that at the bottom of the case, the fabric had begun to fray. The problem still gets worse. Three weeks into using the case, I started noticing that the outer layer of the sides of the case had become to wear off. Additionally, cracks were also noticeable at that point. After a few more weeks, minor cracks turned into major cracks, and eventually parts of the case started to break off. In the end, I ended up replacing it.

Summary/Additional Notes:
-Feels cheap, easily worn out or broken even without dropping the iPhone
-Case is made up of two parts, hard to get in/out and screen protector films may be lifted in process
-Flash is not obstructed
-Case does collect dust and lint near the openings: headphone jack, lock button, speaker/microphone holes, connector port, etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boo. Hiss. Nov. 6 2010

Received this case as a part of the Apple program. I picked this one because the argyle is cute and because I am very fond of my mac pro's clear Speck case--- but, for my phone, I sincerely wish I had picked another case. This one came new with threads already fraying around the edges, as the back is actually fabric which has been glued down. It was thin, thin plastic and I snapped it onto my iPhone out of sheer curiosity and was trapped. I couldn't get the thing off! It was fairly obvious that this case wasn't going to cut it protection-wise, but it held onto the phone in it's tiny little plastic death-grip, announcing its intention to claw up my shiny phone if I tried coins, clips, pliers, or fire to get the thing off! Well, I ended up dropping it (accidentally) a couple of days later. Less than a foot, but onto tile (of course). The case snapped into three pieces and was trashed. My phone was fine-- so snaps to this stupid case for protecting it from one fall. If you can afford to buy a new case each drop, this'll be fine. But if you live in a gravity-affected area, skip this and find something with a spine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking case Sept. 30 2010

I got this case through the Apple Case Program and I am very pleased. While waiting for this case to arrive, I tried two other cases, neither of which I really liked. One was a bumper, which was just annoying, and the other was a soft rubber case that worked, but was kind of ugly and difficult to put on/take off.
This case is a hard shell case in two parts - a back and a frame that goes over of the front of the phone and snaps onto the back piece. I really like this design, it was super easy to put on. It is a little more difficult to take off, but if you slide your fingers under the frame from the screen side, it comes off pretty easily. The case has little openings at the top and bottom for headphones and charger, and in the back there is an opening for the camera. The pattern on the back is sleek and elegant, giving the phone a nice look and feel. I've had my case for about a week and half now, and haven't noticed any fraying or deterioration. I live in a dry climate, so that might help. I got a second identical case and my dad liked it so much he commandeered it from me. Overall, I recommend this case, but be sure to read the negative reviews to see if this case isn't right for your climate.

***Update 11/3/10***
I've now had the case for a month and still no fraying or any of the other problems other reviewers have complained about. I still love it!

***Update 3/7/11***
Now after 5 months I am seeing a little bit of fraying, but it isn't very noticeable and hasn't caused any problems. There was one long thread that I took care of by snipping it off and then applying clear nail polish to keep it from unraveling further. Easy fix and it works great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks/feels great but does not hold up Oct. 22 2010
By Niftynoodle - Published on
I did get this case free with the free case program from Apple. I really like the look and feel of the case. It is classy! My only real complaint once I received the case was that it did not come off easily to put into the iPhone4 dock. I use my iPhone as a clock at night and want it in the dock, but the phone does not fit in the dock with this case on. So when I went to remove it... I couldn't. Not with my hands. I finally did pry it off with a flathead screwdriver. I had to do this every night for about 5 nights until I must've "loosened" it enough that I could get the case off with my hands. This went well for a month; it was slightly loose in one corner but still clicked together and held up. However for no reason when I removed it last night, the skinny part of the top half of the case near the volume control snapped. Now it sticks out and the whole left side of the case won't stay on. So, I'd say if you plan to leave the case on at all times it will probably hold up pretty well (for how long, I don't know) but if you need to remove it often it will not hold up.
