Product Description

A sexy and intense standalone novel from a New York Times bestselling author. This book contains heavy subject matter and is intended for mature readers.

Once, the only thing that mattered to me was football—training, playing, and earning my place on the best team at every level. I had it all, and I threw it away with a semester of drugs, alcohol, and pissing off anyone who tried to stop me. Now I’m suspended from the team, on house arrest, and forced to spend six months at home to get my shit together. The cherry on top of my fuckup sundae? Sleeping in the room next to mine is my best friend’s girl, Mia Mendez—the only woman I’ve ever loved and a reminder of everything I regret.

I’m not sure if having Mia so close will be heaven or hell. She’s off-limits—and not just because she’s working for my dad. Her heart belongs to someone else. But since the accident that killed her brother and changed everything, she walks around like a zombie, shutting out her friends and ignoring her dreams. We’re both broken, numb, and stuck in limbo.

Until I break my own rules and touch her.
Until she saves me from my nightmares by climbing into my bed.
Until the only thing I want more than having Mia for myself is to protect her from the truth.

I can’t rewrite the past, but I refuse to leave her heart in the hands of fate. For this girl, I’d climb into the sky and rearrange the stars.

THE BLACKHAWK BOYS, an edgy, sexy sports romance series from New York Times bestseller Lexi Ryan. Football. Secrets. Lies. Passion. These boys don’t play fair. Which Blackhawk Boy will steal your heart?

WOW! Spinning Out by Lexi Ryan was heartbreakingly amazing. There are so many emotions throughout this book. When Arrow returns home for his house arrest, to say things are tense is an understatement. He is on house arrest because he spiraled out of control after the accident. Mia, the girl he is in love with who he can’t have, happens to be working for his dad as both a nanny and house keeper so he is now forced to see her and her room is right next to his. Since the accident Mia is not living, she is only moving on autopilot. Arrow has a secret that he has been keeping and it is the reason he went off the deep end.

The chemistry between these two is incredible, even their friends can see it, but do they even have a chance, and when the secret comes out will it ruin everything and everyone…

Lexi Ryan has done it again, and I cannot wait for Chris’ and Sebastian’s books!

Wow! Spinning Out by Lexi Ryan is a great start in her new series, The Blackhawk Boys. Spinning Out has everything a reader looks for in a book. There is romance, a love triangle, mystery, emotional angst, and a great cast of characters. This books taps into the emotional well and has the readers experiencing the journey right along with the main characters.

Arrow Woodison had it all until he met Mia Mendez. From that day forward his life changed in drastic measures. Popularity, football, and wealth could not keep his life from spinning out of control. It could not keep his heart from falling in love with his best friend, Brogan Barrett's, girlfriend Mia Mendez. Falling in love with Mia was the beginning of a nightmare that would forever scar his soul. It would destroy his future prospects in professional football. He would lose his best friend. It would almost destroy his relationship with his father. Most of all it would change how he perceived himself as a man. He let his life spin out of control and now he is paying the price. He is living with guilt, remorse, heartbreak, and hopelessness. The only thing that remains the same is his love for Mia Mendez. He may not have the power to change her heart but he does have the power to help her heal from the damage he has caused in her life. He is determined to help her live her life once more and move on from the destruction he has caused in her life.

Mia Mendez is struggling to get by. Her father is a drunk. Her brother that was a convicted felon and drug addict is dead. Her mother abandoned the family when they needed her the most. It would seem that all of her family's problems revolve around the actions of the Woodison family. Mia is a smart girl and knows there are two sides to every story. She also knows deep down the Woodison family is not responsible for her family's downfall. She has taken a job as the Woodison family's nanny in order to support her father and get back in school. It doesn't matter if she is head over heels in love with Arrow Woodison. She has to let go of those feelings because those feelings destroyed Brogan Barrett, the man she should have loved with all her heart. She destroyed a good man. Her betrayal caused her brother's death. She died right along with him.

Love can be the best thing in life but it can also be the one thing that destroys everything good in life. Mia and Arrow are learning that life goes on even though their hearts were destroyed.

An undeniable love. A horrific accident. Deep hidden secrets will change not only Mia and Arrow's life but also every person they hold dear.

Lexi Ryan wrote a fantastic book! I was glued to the pages. I connected with all of the characters. I can't wait to see what comes next!

I am a huge Lexi Ryan fan so I was super excited to start this new series! And that cover – wowza!

This story was extremely intense and made me feel all the feels! It was actually much more powerful than I expected, though I shouldn’t have been surprised since Lexi always makes me feel!

We meet Mia.“She’s not living. She’s surviving.” After going through more than any one person should have to endure she is just going through the motions and doing the best she can.

Until he came home…

Arrow. I adored him. Even when he was cold, I understood where he was coming from.

“This nightmare my life has become – having her so close and knowing she can’t ever be mine. This isn’t heaven or hell. It’s f***ing purgatory.”

The connection between these two was electric! You could feel it through the pages.
I enjoyed every minute of this story and cannot wait Chris’ story next! I hope we get a Bailey/Mason story too! (4.5 stars)
4.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Star To A New Series! Jan. 2 2017

I'm a huge fan of Lexi Ryan's so I'm quite disappointed in myself for not jumping into this series sooner than I did. Spinning Out is a great start to what I know is going to be an amazing series. Mia and Arrow have a complicated relationship to point it nicely.

These two have a torrid past and so many things have stood in their way. Mia's heart belongs to Brogan, but in so many ways he's gone. Arrow is on a downward spiral and stuck living in the room next to Mia while he deals with his own demons. The only thing saving him is seeing how she's a walking zombie dealing with her own sadness and regret and his goal is to make her live again. I loved how this book kept going from the past to the present so we got little tidbits of the history between these two and were able to piece together what exactly happened that made everything so hard for them to be together.

I loved Arrow's character and my heart broke for him over and over again. He deserved so much more than what he went through in this book. He did some stupid things, but when all was said and done, I truly understood why he did what he did and even though it's not something that he should have done, it makes sense. He truly loves Mia and I wished that he could have gotten her in the beginning and saved everyone all the heartache they all went through.

Mia on the other hand.. I wish she would have been stronger throughout this book and followed her heart more instead of what she thought was the right thing to do. I think ultimately it would have saved a lot of pain and heartache as well. I know she did what she thought was right, and in the end I don't think it would have changed anything, but I think it would have spared her, Brogan and Arrow a lot of pain.

This story does have quite a few twists and turns, but at some points it is predictable and if you pay attention enough, you can figure it all out. I hated how it all played out and how people were used as pawns to cover things up, but some people don't see past their own self, and don't care who gets hurt in the aftermath. I laughed, I cried and my heart hurt with these characters. I really enjoyed this book and I am definitely looking forward to getting the stories of the rest of the Blackhawk Boys after meeting them in this book. This was the perfect beginning to a series and I can't wait to see what Lexi Ryan has in store for us next with this series. I really hope we get to see more of Arrow and Mia in upcoming books in the series, because I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to them!

My Review:
Overall: 4.75
Performance: 4.5
Story: 4.75

Oh wow...this book is an emotional roller coaster ride, and Lexi Ryan is the queen of twisting the curves so that the reader has no idea where it's going next. there are several different timelines within this book and the story very slowly unfolds...but getting the reader to where she knows exactly what happened is a masterpiece. And that's going to make this review really difficult to write because I don't want to spoil any of those twists and turns.

Although it's obvious from the very beginning that Arrow and Mia are the hero and heroine of this story, there is a 3rd character involved...Brogan. Wow. When the story begins...Arrow is on house arrest for "some crime", Mia is the working as the live-in nanny for his stepmother, and Brogan is in a really bad way...but it's not obvious what any of that means. This story all unfolds and the reader slowly begins to realize just how broken all the characters are from "whatever" it was that happened. And let me assure you, when you go into this book...NONE of that will be clear until the very end. BUT it was never a confusing book...which is a testament of just how good of a story teller Lexi Ryan truly is.

The story goes back and forth in time...and it's not just a simple before and, it's jumping all over the place to manipulate your emotions. As a reader, you fall in and out of love with the characters and wonder who really is the good and the bad in all of this. It's truly a genius book just in the complexity of how it's told.

But what's never in any heart broke for these characters...all of them even the ones that ultimately turned out bad. Gah...a simple change to a single action here or there and so much could have been different. My heart cried through the entirety of this book. It was so, so good. And so, so sad. But I loved it so, so much.

Book #2 is out, and now my debate is do I read it or wait for the audiobook (which isn't out yet) because I can assure you...I will be reading this entire series. LOVE!!

Once again, the term "never judge a book by its cover" rings true except in this instant, the cover was much better than the book! I really tried to like this book and I have to admit that the author did a great job with the flashbacks back and forth which slowly revealed the twists and turns of the story. But there were many things that just annoyed me! Firstly, I didn't feel the chemistry between Arrow and Mia. Nothing sizzled between them and their sexy times were meh. And Mia was so confusing with her hot and cold signals for Arrow and Brogan. I wanted to whack her over the head on many occasions! Also her reason for not choosing Arrow (because of his family status and the history with their parents) seemed to be convenient to her only when she was trying to push him away. In the scenes post accident, this major reason for not choosing him suddenly wasn't a factor anymore. And we don't get an explanation why she is suddenly trying to sleep with him again. Mia wasn't a particularly special heroine either and yet she had guys falling for her left, right and centre, and I just didn't see the appeal. And Arrow was a meh hero - he wasn't alpha and just stepped aside for his best friend to win the girl. I like my heroes to be the type that sees the heroine and claims her as his! To be honest, I liked the side characters more like Chris, Mason and Sebastian!! And the ending was also meh - it was rushed and felt incomplete to me especially since there was no epilogue. 2 MEH stars!
