About the author

Brandon Alinger is the chief operations officer of the Los Angeles branch of Prop Store, a company specializing in film props and costumes as memorabilia. Prop Store works with studios and production companies to produce auctions of props and costumes used in the making of films and television shows. Alinger is the co-author of Star Wars Art: Ralph McQuarrie, as well as the author of Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy. He began his career in publishing as a research assistant to J.W. Rinzler on The Making of Return of the Jedi. He has been actively researching the production of the Star Wars films for many years and has tracked down and interviewed many of the artists and technicians who helped bring the films to life, as well as uncovering original filming locations in Tunisia, Norway, and the United Kingdom. Most recently, Brandon appeared as a featured guest on Mark Hamill’s Pop Culture Quest, wherein Brandon reunited the Star Wars star with his hero lightsaber prop from Return of the Jedi.

It's a fantastic book just like the earlier one. It's a huge 226-page hardcover with lots of wonderful photos and in depth writeup.
Star Wars Costumes focuses on the costumes created for Star Wars original trilogy Episodes IV, V and IV. It's really cool to look at the huge variety of costumes used in the movies.
There are costumes for Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Boba Fett, bounty hunters, Princess Leia's skimpy slave dancer outfit, Darth Vadar, Stormtroopers and many more. Across the movies, there are also updates to the costumes so you'll get to see Darth Vadar's original and the updated one after A New Hope. What I find interesting is to see that most costume designs have aged quite well while some not so well.
The photographs are great. They are high resolution with close ups just in case you want to examine the seams. There are photographs almost on every page. Some sketches and concept designs are also included.
The text is even more in depth compared to Dressing a Galaxy, talking about the making of those costumes. Forewords are written by costume designers John Mollo, Nilo Rodis-Jamero and Aggie Rodgers. It's a very insightful writeup by author Brian Alinger.
Highly recommended to all Star Wars fans.
By the way, there are two publishers for this book, namely Chronicle Books who is distributing for USA and Canada, and Titan Books for UK, Europe and other places. Prices of the book will vary slightly from the publishers and of course places where you buy it.

Bad points: Doesn't contain all the costumes from the movies. Not nearly enough pictures of everything. Will make you frustrated with your own costumes lack of accuracy.
A definite must have for the serious Star Wars costumer and a nice supplement to Dressing A Galaxy. I'm leaving a star out, because I wanted all the costumes (at least all the main costumes) and more pictures with more details.
For the next book about Star Wars costumes there should be more pictures, more detailed descriptions (although SWC have some good ones), and just more costumes featured. Oh, and don't forget the costume gallery in the back where all the costumes are shown with references to what page they can be found on. (As seen in DAG).
This is a hugely comprehensive and very detailed look at the Original trilogy and it covers alot of the popular as well as lesser well known costumes, and ,with some excellent photographic work gives perhaps the best coverage I've ever seen.
An absolute must for an OT fan!!!
