Last week my computer crashed. It had a 128 Gb SSD disk in it. I had no longer access to the disk. I tried all the recovery and emergency disks and Flash cards I had. I was able to access the emergency recovery programs, but my SSD drive was no longer functioning.
I still had my older computer from a couple of years ago. It was no longer working, something to do with the microchip, but not long before it crashed, I did install a new Kingston SSD. But this SSD wasn’t the boot drive. So I did proceed to a SSD disk transplant from my old computer to my actual computer.
I had to re-install Windows. I also found out that the Windows 10 safeguard features were not good at all. I always made restore points and hard drive image on 2 of my external hard drive, just in case such a thing happens. Well, after having re-install Windows on my computer, I tried to reload my set-up either from the image disk or the restore points saved on my external hard drive. But they all came with a message of corrupted files. To make a long story short, nothing worked and I now have to reinstall every thing and more or less re-educate my computer. Not being a computer whiz, I find it rather challenging.
So I order another Kingston SSD disk and Star Tech Sata to USB cable. This with a free cloning software available On line, is allowing me to make a clone of my Main SSD boot disk. So if every thing crashes again, or if I change computer, I will only have to install this “outside” Kingston SSD disk” inside my computer. And every thing should work as if nothing has happened. All my set up being cloned on a regular schedule.
I set up the cloning process to make a new clone every couple of days and I leave the Kingston SSD disk attached to the Star Tech Sata to USB cable connected to my computer at all time. This way I hopefully would not have to go to the same pain as to reinstall every thing again.
I also re-ordered another Kingston SSD disk and another Star Tech Sata to USB cable so I will have a duplicate of the clone. I will alternate the SSD disks form 1 week to the other. This way I have redundancy in my safeguards. It is always better be safe than sorry.

Updated on July 2020: 5 months after stopped working, Contacted Starmedia and they sent me a brand new replacement. The replacement quickly died after couple of uses. Contacted them again and they rushed shipping to send me another replacement at no extra expense. This is a serious company, I'd recommend it because they stand behind their name and product. I'm a bit concerned about reliability for this highly praised product. I'd buy again from them.
