“A gorgeous, haunting saga that completely swept me away. I fell for Lucas just as hard as Helen did. OMGods, I can’t wait to read more!” (Lauren Kate, New York Times bestselling author of Fallen)
“Move over, Romeo and Juliet--Josephine Angelini debuts a dizzying tale of action, drama, and romance with just the right twist of humor and tragedy. Modern mythology has never been sexier!” (Kiersten White, New York Times bestselling author of Paranormalcy)

The story in itself is enticing... The greek mithology is not used enough in books for my taste. The caracters are believable and even tough they are not technically "human", I still could relate.
I would recommend this book to everyone who like this gendre!
For a book that's almost 500 pages in length, Starcrossed is a book I devoured in one siting! The story of Helen of Troy was one of the few Greek myths that I haven't read before, but reading this book made me want to go back and study it right away.
The first thing that drew me in was the sort of insta-hate relationship between Helen and Lucas -- where they literally want to kill each other -- which I thought was so original! Josephine Angelini crafted a sizzling, fun, and very sweet romance with these two, and along with the fast-paced plot and cool Greek mythology, it made a compelling combination.
One of my favourite things about Starcrossed had to be the secondary characters. Every single member of the Delos family had their own distinct personalities and abilities as demigods, and I was constantly grinning at the witty banter that passed between them.
But as much as I adore selfless characters, the way Helen let herself get beat up and took it with a smile made me want to shake some sense into her. She was witty and fun and had some really hilarious one-liners, but the third person narrative and the way she reacted to things made it really hard to connect with her. It was also sometimes hard to tell who was thinking what because the perspectives switched constantly mid-chapter.
Overall, even with those little things, Starcrossed was a blast to read and it'll have you hooked on the story from beginning to end! You should definitely give it a shot whether you like Greek mythology or not. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the sequel! :)
BUY or BORROW?: If you love a good starcrossed romance with an original take on demigods and Greek myths, then this is the perfect book to add to your collection!
I really enjoyed how Josephine Angelini took Greek mythology and turned it into a contemporary story. There is a lot to ancient literature and while I was looking forward to what it could bring, I was afraid I might get caught up in remembering all the facts instead of enjoying the story. It couldn't of been easy bringing the modern and ancient together, but it is wonderfully written and made the union seem effortless.
Helen is so sweet, shy, unnaturally strong, fast, intelligence and "turn your head" gorgeous. She hates the attention she gets and just wants to stay under everybody's radar. All you want to do is protect her, which is one of many reason why I love her best friend, Claire. They have know each other since they were babies and Claire isn't afraid to say whatever she thinks and stand up for Helen without ever being asked. Lucas has all the same attributes as Helen except he's very comfortable with who and what he is, but not in an obnoxious way.
I love all the characters and how each of them have clear personalities and important roles in the story that make them stand on there own instead of just existing for the sake of supporting the main characters.
I'll admit that while a lot of people think about the story of Helen and Paris as an epic romance, I thought they were two of the most selfish people in history. So can you explain to me why I'm hoping that despite what will happen if Helen and Lucas end up together, I'm suddenly rooting for them, damning the consequences?
This is a brilliant and captivating adventure with drama, romance and action that keeps you on edge and will leave you greedy for more. I can't believe this is Josephine Angelini's or as I now think of her after reading Starcrossed - *Moirae's debut. Where has she been hiding! Probably on an island south of Cape Code, Massachusetts or Olympia.
*Moirae: often called The Fates (Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos). The goddesses, who controlled the destiny of everyone, by weaving with the thread of life.
Overall, this was a great book and I would definitely recommend it! I think I might read it again once the rest of the series has come out!
