Product Description

Review

The Stars is the best book available for its purpose. It is also a brilliant example of the combined use of art and writing in bringing science to the layman." Saturday Review "

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

Rey's view to teaching astronomy is original, refreshing, and easy to follow. I would recommend his books to anyone, of any age, wanting to learn about the skies.

This is a great book for beginners. An approachable method that centers on picking out the constellations. Keeps it simple and uncluttered by a lot of science. In the dark it could stand some improvement, while the white stars stand out well on a dark green background under a red light, the labels identifying the constellations are in black and hard to read. Also, a coil binding to allow the book to lie flat would make it more user friendly out of doors. .......John

Best guide to stars ever! It is both understandable and memorable. Go figure it's by the author of curious George!
