When they arrived, I opened them and plugged them in. I was a little worried cause out of the box, the audio sounded a little hollow and raspy, but I made sure to install the software intended for the headset, tweaked a couple of settings, and it sounds great. It’s noticeably lighter than the Nari, and I love the degree of customization.
You can change the colours and patterns of the lights on the earmuffs, and I also found out you can change the colour of both of the toggles for the mute. So when my headset is muted, the light on the mic fades through some colours, and it turns off when I unmute. However, it’s hard to see this through the foam mic cover.
Overall I’m super happy with the headset and am super happy to have an upgrade over the Nari I bought a year ago
PROS:
+ Looks sleek and stylish; LED around the earset changes colour and is very visually appealing
+ Retractable microphone
+ Sounds is crisp and clear. My partner used a sound-testing website to see how well the headphones worked and was blown away by the sound quality. He offered me to try the headset and experience the test---safe to say, I completely agree with him; the sound was so "real," I had to double-check it wasn't coming from the room I was in.
+ Sound isolation
+ Snug and comfortable fit
CONS?
- I suppose the only con with this headset as opposed to his previous Diablo III headset is that my partner can't really keep one earpiece off as easily (which he would do while he was gaming so I could talk to him; he would have the headset a little bit skewwed with the earpiece resting on a different part of his head). This headset is less "flexible" in that regard. My partner can still keep one headphone off, but it is less easy to do than with his previous headset. Guess it's good for him, as he can't hear me complaining about his tardiness with cleaning the dishes...
The lowest volume setting still leaks a very small amount of sound but having both drivers output the same volume at lower volume levels is a big upgrade from the cheap no-name headsets I used to use.
The sound quality is a bit muddy in the mid-range. Bass is clear and not over-emphasized. Treble is alright, but it seems to emphasize the fricatives and affricates in speech and cymbals in music. It's much better than no-name headsets, but the cheaper Corsair HyperX Cloud Stinger had better sound quality despite lacking build quality.
Nothing wrong with the microphone. Seems like a bog standard gaming headset mic. It's fine for gaming and voice calls. Any application that requires serious quality (e.g. live-streaming, teaching, voice acting) would need a standalone microphone anyways.
Overall, I think this headset is a solid choice for gaming. If you really need better sound quality and can sacrifice some creature comforts, the Cloud Stinger is a better pick, but otherwise this is a good option.

First off, the frame is a dark aluminum, not plastic as the other Arctis series. The ski-goggle style headband is interesting, but if you want to get a custom band off their website, that'll be nearly another $30. For some color. On the other hand though, this style is very comfortable. It fits my head nicely, and has some room for adjustment but not much. I wear these without the band at all, and it's still quite comfortable.
The sound quality is great, it has lots of customization options such as EQ presets, and even sliders to customize to your own preferences. It is noise cancelling, which means you'll have a hard time hearing someone call your name if these are on even at 25% volume. But it adds a LOT to the immersion. Noise canceling also means you'll have that echo-ey sound kind of like you're hearing yourself talk.. You get used to it though.
The dark aluminum frame is nice to the touch, and feels very sturdy. The dark accent with the black band and the RGB ear cups are really nice. Like, nice to the point you could wear them out in public and not feel awkward.
The RGB is completely customizable with the color picker, but not many effects besides the typical breathing and wave. The magnetic ear caps are interesting and nice, but again if you want to buy some custom ones for another $30 or more, the choice is there.
The one thing that annoys me is the proprietary cable that SteelSeries has come up with for the headset. Basically, to use this headset with my phone, I need the special cable to plug into my headset, then take the dongle and attach that to the end to turn it into a 3.5mm jack. If you have an iPhone X or newer, plan on adding that 3.5mm to lightning dongle, and you got a really long, 3 piece headset cable. Nice.
Ah yes, I almost forgot. The Mic is great as well, but very sensitive. The pop filter that comes with the headset is nice, but doesn't help much. Plus, you'll have to take it off everytime you push the Mic into the headset. Eh. I don't use it. Everyone in my discord says I sound great, and I'm happy with my purchase of this headset for sub $200.
