HASH(0xa023a54c) out of 5 stars some beautiful essays about 17th century dutch culture Dec 6 2012

Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I expected to get a used hardback edition but when it arrived as promised it looked like a new book. I like 17th century dutch paintings and these essays explain some aspects of the culture that nourished their creation. What a brave, intelligent, lucid, adult people and Zbigniew Herbert's writing has the same qualities. I put the book aside from time to time as I was reading because I didn't want it to end: an inspiring experience.
