This is a beautifully illustrated book of how to crochet--old style--where to put the hook, what the stitch should look like rather than all of those squiggles that I cannot follow very well. I loved this little book so much that I bought the knitting one too--even though I do very little knitting. A great book for beginners, but I learned a new stitch, twisted single crochet, and a better way to join crochet motif rounds if you don't want them in a continuous spiral--and I have been crocheting for 50 years. It is a soft paperback book with a dust jacket. If you are looking for a book with projects in it, this is not the one. But if you are looking for a book on how to do the basics without a bunch of extra stuff taking up room--this is for you.
Great learning guide

This would be an excellent book for a beginner, but unfortunately it was a lot of detail about a few techniques, not an encyclopedia for experienced crocheters
The perfect beginners book of crochet

This is an excellent book for beginning crocheters. The diagrams are perfect and explanations are great. This is written at a level that a 9 or 10 year old would understand. Highly recommend this book

Got as a gift for my Mom along with the knitting encylopedia, she loved them both! She said she will have fun using these to try new projects.
