Why do some of us bounce back after stresses and failures, while others struggle to pull through? It's not about natural resilience. It's that those who are able to move confidently through setbacks have developed good coping skills - and you can, too.
In this interactive guide, mental health expert Dr. Bill Howatt presents a proven five-part model to move you past the rut in your life and toward happiness. With clarity and compassion, he guides you through the steps to overcome challenges:
ďż˝ Build awareness in each area of your life - career, finances, relationships, physical health, and mental health
ďż˝ Take accountability and make healthy changes
ďż˝ Learn how to build resilience
ďż˝ Take action to achieve your goals
Along the way, he shows how using these tools transformed his own life, allowing him to succeed despite mental health challenges and learning difficulties.
Happiness and well-being are not destinations; they're an outcome of choices you make, and ways of being and living daily. Stop Hiding and Start Living will empower you with the skills you need to make the kind of choices that will lead you to a happier, more fulfilling life.

Here is a quote from the book that gives an indication of what this book is about:
“Finding more happiness is about looking at your life and assessing what you can control.”
The author encourages you to look at 5 levels of your life, what he calls “The Life Pillar” (Mental Health, Physical Health, Relationships, Career/Education and Money.) Within each level, you can assess if you are flourishing or not, what he calls the F-it Model. If you feel you are not flourishing at the money level, for example, you can take steps to redress a less-than-desirable situation. For personal change to happen, the author suggests being “aware, accountable and willing to act.”
The “Develop Mental Fitness” part of the title attracted my attention and was one of the reasons that I bought the book. “Mental fitness” refers to flourishing in each of the five levels.
The author writes in a clear and understandable way. I surprised myself that I finished the book in less than three days. It was a page-turner for me. I recommend Dr. Howatt’s book.
Thank you for your insight and honestly and providing stepping stones as growth opportunities.
