I will eventually try another but since Ifly GPS does not have Synthetic Vision I am in no hurry. I am trying to upload a photo but have been unsuccessful
Update, I have flown with the AHRS several times. It is a little slower than the aircraft systems, but is fun to have. If I was flying a ga aircraft, I would really enjoy having this.
AHRS still doesn't work in ForeFlight.
In other words, although the AHRS runs smoothly in pitch and roll in WingX, it sometimes momentarily freezes up or AHRS attitude representation disappears for 6-7 seconds then finally comes back.
I am an A&P I.A. with past avionics installation experience.
I still have not received a response from the seller about this unit being not very robust as described above, or defective. I was also told the unit as an assembly with other components does not need a heatsink. But the fan is turning off and on constantly and staying on formlong periods and this is not in direct sunlight or hot environment? Would like to hear some guidance from the seller or if the AHRS unit itself is not acting as per normal as described above. Giving a chance for that....
The first one I received was non-functional. I reimaged the SD card on the Pi 3 and reloaded in, rebooted, no joy. No attitude data on the Stratux page in my browser or on the iPad running ForeFlight. Both showed the AHRS as being present and recognized, but absolutely no response to changes in roll/pitch no matter what I tried. Returned for a new one. I will update after I receive a good working module.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
I received a new module via UPS before the one I returned had even left my mailbox! Great service. In about the time it takes to type this update I had installed the new one and booted it up, loaded ForeFlight, and I now have a 100% functional Stratux with GPS, AHRS, ADS-B in dual channel, and can't wait for this overcast layer to burn off so I can go fly!
