This show had everything it needed except ratings. It came a long at the same time 30 Rock did and I believe that's what killed it. 30 Rock was hilarious and Studio 60 was sharp, dramatic, funny too, and 30 minutes longer. This is a great Sorkin drama with tons of smart laughs thrown it. Truly my favourite show of all-time.

I like to watch television series from start to favorite and have over three dozen complete runs to enjoy. My standard practice is to watch one episode a day for the series I am going through, although I might go back-to-back with a two-parter. But when I decided to watch the one season of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" I went through all 22 episodes in five days (it would have been less but I had other things to watch, classes to teach, time to spend sleeping, etc.). When my wife heard what I was doing she decided to lie in bed for two days and watching the entire series from start to finish. So that would be a pretty good indication of how much we liked the late and lamented television series from Aaron Sorkin.

I am enthralled the art of writing and so wish that when it comes to writing that my attention span was better suited to actual works of literature than writing reviews. With this television show I get to appreciate both the writing of the episodes and the parts in the episodes where people are writing. But the bottom line remains that I simply love the way Sorkin writes and have yet to reach my saturation point with watching (although I should really say "listening") repeats of "The West Wing" the way I have other series that I love (Yes, I know that Sorkin only produced and wrote the first four seasons of the show, but those were the best ones and I would swear that those who wrote in his wake were trying to emulate his style). It goes without saying that the same comments apply to Sorkin's first television series, "Sports Night."

Beyond that, I find this television shows particularly affecting. I think I got choked up more often watching "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" than for any single season of any television show I have ever seen.

An absolutely wonderful series that died a premature death, probably because the average schmo viewer couldn't grasp the superlative writing. All the characters were engaging, with foibles that made the viewer more and more interested. A super ensemble cast that delivered the goods and the dialogue consistently. The episode with John Goodman guest starring as a country judge was a high point. Unfortunately, this series failed because it was too smart for the viewer (in the same manner that the equally wonderful "My So-Called Life" met its end). So long Studio 60...we hardly knew ya.

This was one of the best written shows that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. For whatever reason, it didn't catch on with the masses as it should have and alas, we are left with only a single season of this fantastic series. Maybe the writing was too intelligent? I cannot say but I do know that I fell in love with the story line and characters almost instantly. I laughed, cried and waited with bated breath each episode. Well worth what I paid and more.....

cancelling this show. This was probably the best show of all that aired that season, yet NBC did its darndest to make sure it failed by putting it after Heros which was had a totally different viewer dynamic.

Studio 60 had it all: great actors, great scripts, great chemistry not only with the headliners but the supporting cast as well. There are wonderful guest stars - even one, John Goodman - who won an Emmy for his guest appearance.

Why did NBC cancel this show? Rumour has it that the head honcho at NBC didn't like it from the get go so did his best to make sure it wouldn't find an audience. Those of us who did, loved it, stuck with it to the bitter end, and mourn it's loss.

It's too bad that one of the other networks didn't pick it up and give it the timeslot, promotion, and exposure it deserved. I'm just glad I have this DVD to watch and relive all the golden moments.

Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop until I had watched every episode. Although predictable at times, Studio 60 is also highly entertaining. Very talented cast.

Dommage que cette série n'ait pas connu le destin qui lui était promis... Excellent casting, excellent tournage et écriture bien au-dessus de la moyenne !

Like Gilmore Girls and West Wing, this is a show written for people who enjoy quick and clever dialogue that forces the audience to think and laugh rather than "veg out". The characters are people who I would enjoy sitting across from at a dinner party, likeable and entertaining even if I don't agree with them.
