I'm using the mini mic for a Raspberry Pi Alexa setup and everything works perfectly. The mic is plugnplay with the pi, requiring absolutely no manual setup, and was recognized by the pi and then by Alexa flawlessly. This is important because I attempted to use a different microphone solution with the pi prior to trying these mics, and it failed miserably. The video I've included doesn't do justice to the distance I'm standing, which is about 12 feet from the raspberry pi and mic. You'll also hear a hum in the background from the dishwasher running, which didn't interfere with the microphone functionality at all. Just about anywhere within my living room and attached kitchen (i'd estimate about 350 relatively unobstructed square feet), the mic is able to pick up my voice, and Alexa is able to determine what I'm saying... so I highly recommend these for a low cost solution, especially if considering setting up Alexa.

I purchased three "micohones" (see attached picture for spelling), and they were all individually packaged in bubble wrap and then packaged in a box. Based on the packaging, I'm guessing that if only one was purchased, it would have just been shipped in the bubble wrap. Regardless, the shipment packaging I received was excellent, and the item packaging was also good. These are not any particular brand, and not Sunfounder. They are no-name, chinese, mini USB microphones. If you can get past that.... they're great. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of the horrible spelling on the packaging.

This microphone is a great add-on to the Nvidia Shield if you're using a Harmony Remote to replace the missing microphone. The microphone picks up my voice from about 10 feet away accurately.

Build quality of the microphone is very poor - the PCB inside was not secured properly making it a VERY tight fit in my USB port. I had to wiggle it around to get it to go in.

This microphone seems to draw more amps than a typical USB drive, so it did not work on my USB 2.0 unpowered hub.

So yes, it works with Android / Nvidia Shield for voice command and also on a PC. On the PC, recording levels are low and medicore quality, but that's not what most people are using it for right?

It works, it's cheap, hopefully won't break anytime soon.

UPDATE: I bought a second one for a new Nvidia Shield... and the new one has better build quality, but the mic sensitivity is even worse than the old one. You basically have to be right up against it to pick up barely any sound. Needless to say this new mic is now useless for the Shield (or PC) because it can't pick up any sound. A microphone that doesn't record properly... useless.

In addition, The "Package Contents" clearly state "Documentation in English". Nope, zero documentation. Returning it.
UPDATE. Was contacted by SunFounder support with an offer to work through the issue, which was appreciated, but I'd already initiated the return.

This is advertised to work with raspberry pi. Can't speak for all models but it doesn't work with my pi 3B. Just to test it, I tried it on windows 10 and it's actually quite good. Audio is clear and doesn't cut off. For that I'll give it 2 stars but unfortunately can't give it more than that since it doesn't work on raspberry as it's advertised to.

Second one is extremely quiet. It kind of works, if you set all volumes to maximum.
My cheap Microsoft webcam microphone is probably 10x to 20x more sensitive - i.e. it can hear mouse clicks, while this item cannot.
I would look for something different.

Hard to configure Alsa stack and with R Pi
Mic and speaker could be created as one usb card. Extremely low recorded sound, no mixer property on the card. No helper tool/driver how to configure and best practice for this device.
I've managed to configure one channel with 16 bit and 44100 bitrate and this is only mode that is working.
Very disappointed as many apps require one audio card to work with as a default.

Tried it on a Raspberry PI and could barely hear anything.
I tried a USB headset and that worked fine so the problem is with the Mini Microphone.
Either it is faulty or works so badly it is not fit for purpose.

PRO: comodo! Il microfono è compatto e viene riconosciuto senza problemi. Può essere lasciato sempre inserito.
CONTRO: come evidenziato anche da altre recensioni, il volume dell'audio registrato tende ad essere un po' basso, costringendo ad alzare il gain al massimo... ovviamente si amplifica anche il rumore di fondo. In particolare c'è un costante rumore di fondo introdotto dal microfono che non è tanto alto da disturbare la comprensione del parlato ma che può essere fastidioso. Se intendete usarlo per videoconferenza, dotatevi di un paio di cuffie, altrimenti il microfono catturerà l'output degli altoparlanti e avrete un feedback che renderà la comunicazione impossibile.

Il prezzo (circa 8 euro) è secondo me troppo alto per la fattura del prodotto che personalmente troverei più adeguato intorno ai 5 euro.

purchased for use with raspberry pi with custom alexa application: I have to say it does work, but only if you speak directly into the microphone (<20cm distance) or literally scream. Didn't expect much for this price, but was still disappointed. If you listen to the recordings, it's full of noise. Actually impresive that Alexa's voice recognition is good enough to understand anything! Wouldn't purchase again.
